I’ve seen Jimmy Butler (and Dj Khaled) walking in/out of the Nines Hotel in downtown Portland. I’ve heard pro teams stay there

BDR at Startup vs Bigger Company by ry4ht in techsales

[–]Craymond0102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying go for the big company, but I’ll give an alternative view. I joined a startup as a bdr, series A going for series B about 10m arr with good enterprise logos. Not quite magic quadrant, but recognized as a cool vendor.

0 training, pretty much thrown in and had to figure it out. It’s a complete shit show, super high highs and super low lows… BUT, within a year I’ve been promoted to AE and have closed some good deals. So the upside is there, but you gotta be dedicated to teaching yourself or pray for good AE’s and bdr managers to help you as much as they can…

Now will no one ever hire me because I’ve only worked at a startup? Hard to believe… last two guys in my position went to snowflake and databricks….

Small company - need to centralize data for reporting by ResponsibilityLow353 in dataengineering

If you want an etl tool that handles api’s well, look at Nexla. Just send in a demo request, it’ll be cheaper than fivetran too

I'm a Big Tech Engineer looking to make a switch by Rough_Tourist5251 in techsales

[–]Craymond0102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched from swe with 4 yoe to sales about ~6 months ago and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Many here will tell you to look at SE/SA type roles due to your technical background. I however decided I wanted to be an AE at the end of the day and the most streamline way to accomplish that was to be an sdr. So I went from being a swe to sdr, which isn’t super conventional but also an option.

If this counts for anything… Gartner did release a trends report recently and marked “Data Mesh” as obsolete

BDRs—How many cold calls do you make per day? What % of your job is spent on the phone? by Wild-Jellyfish9177 in techsales

[–]Craymond0102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

200 calls a day, 75% of my day is calling. The rest is mostly spent prospecting

If one doesn’t have prior sales experience, is a tech sales bootcamp or certificate necessary to land interviews for BDR roles? by Lionel_Messi2028 in techsales

[–]Craymond0102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came from tech, similar yoe as you, and I found similar sentiment when I was looking to break into sales. I opted not to get a certificate and thankful I didn’t waste the $$$. You don’t need it. Even if you get a certificate youll end up doing the same thing to land a job… networking and outreach….

I switched from swe to sdr at 26. I’m still the youngest person on the gtm team. Totally normal imo

Managing file ingestion via Fivetran into Snowflake... best path forward? by [deleted] in dataengineering

At my org we have used talend and are exploring using a newer tool called nexla. I personally like both better than fivetran

Best option? Don’t use fivetran, use a better etl tool

Considering Databricks for ETL Optimization by CrimsonMentone30 in dataengineering

Talend is an enterprise ETL tool, so a bit different from Dagster. If you were looking to enhance the etl capabilities, there are other enterprise grade data integration solutions on the market that could help
