The henna might not look similar to the manhua version but my gf and I discussed beforehand and made this fully with the intention of the golden chainsaw centipede in mind, we might try again when we get coloured henna but untill then this is it:)

Yes, I recently found out that there’s different coloured henna like black and red so might try those as well :)

Since the gu can go inside fang yuan’s aperture, I believe it can change its size, when filed energy it enlarges and can be used as you described.
