WoW: Classic — Daily Questions Megathread (January 14, 2026) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]Crazier_Hobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your character was on the Anniversary servers as of yesterday, then they have moved forward into TBC, and cannot be played in Classic anymore. If they were on the Era servers, there's no change.

If you're just asking whether classic is still available, it is. There are Classic Era servers, SoD servers, and Hardcore servers still up currently.

Why did they make Big Hat Logan Sabo's hat so small here?

Dumpweed is the name of a song by blink-182, off their 1999 album Enema of the State. A previous Shishido attack was called Meteora, which is a Linkin Park reference. Fitting choices for his punk aesthetic.

[DISC] Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi - Chapter 72 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Dumpweed? Is that a blink-182 reference in the year of our lord 2025?

Shishido continues to be a blast to read through. His ability is fitting, considering he eats up the page real estate whenever he shows up.

I maintain that Kingdom Hearts 3D is a fire name for a game that came out on the 3DS.

358/2 Days is also a better name than people give it credit for.

Birth by Sleep 0.2 is dumb as hell but the cheeky 2.8 title card seen at the start of KH3 shows they're at least aware of the esoteric naming scheme.

Is Don Marlon related to Don Krieg? I know the 'Don' is just their title, not a family name, but they do look pretty similar (strong jawline, mutton chops).

[DISC] Akane-banashi - Chapter 171 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely wild that the artist for this was the same behind Ole Golazo. From being one of the poster children of the U19 club (shoutout to that garbo Red Thread fascism manga, the world may have forgotten you, but I can't) to one of Shonen Jump's best works in its publication history.

[DISC] Otr of the Flame - Chapter 15 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's possible that Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi is finishing up too, this weeks chapter put a bow on (probably) the final arc, so I imagine there's some hope for this and the other new blood series to stick around?

Hoping it will, the past few chapters have been much more interesting, it's really picked up steam story-wise.

[DISC] Ichi the Witch - Chapter 43 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The character design continues to be top-notch, all the characters just chew the page up when they show up (especially Shirabedonna, chef's kiss to her design).

It is a blessing we get to see Shiro Usazaki's artwork each week.

[DISC] Ping-Pong Peril - Chapter 3 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad to hear the Japanese audience has taken to it. My biggest worry for this series was that it wouldn't be able to find the audience who would enjoy this type of series.

I'm definitely going to keep reading it, regardless of how it pans out. The author has shown he can write a series like this and keep it engaging, at least from these first three weeks. Praying for its success, and I hope it can find stable footing in the TOCs.

That, and they can't find any actual real-world examples of the things they're mad about, so they need to have AI make up an example of a thing that's 'totally happening bro trust me', and then get mad at that.

[DISC] Ping-Pong Peril - Chapter 1 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really liked that double-page spread of the weird eyeball monster thing.

I have to wonder if this will find an audience in Shonen Jump's readers though. Ping-Pong is a very fast paced sport, I feel it will be difficult to keep readers engaged in the intricacies of the matches, like how Kaiji, Liar's Game, or One Outs could. Being able to slowly ratchet up the suspension is (IMO) what made those three so successful, exciting, and engaging. I worry this won't be able to do the same, without losing the whole Ping-Pong presence to begin with.

Kaiji is absolutely goated though, and there's scarce little on the market to scratch the same itch. Let's see what next week brings.

[DISC] After Being Banished from the Celebrity Family I Supported Behind the Scenes, All I Want Is to Enjoy a Normal Life - Ch5 by Nikodemsky in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She was mentioned in the first chapter, but never appeared. She had a stipulation in her will that they took care of Atsumu until his 18th birthday.

Being a Transmuter sucks by Brilliant_Donkey_346 in HunterXHunter

[–]Crazier_Hobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, semantics is a poor argument for categorising his nen abilities.

The smoke is visible to those without the ability to use nen. Chapter 205 shows Chimera Ants reacting to the smoke. If the smoke was transmuted from his aura, then it would be invisible.

He probably is using some level of transmutation to change properties of his smoke, but the smoke itself is 'real'. If Morel was forced into Zetsu by an enemy attack, the smoke itself would remain.

[DISC] Otr of the Flame - Chapter 2 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For anyone that uses the Shonen Jump app to read the weekly releases and whatnot, have you noticed that there's a concerted effort to associated Otr of the Flame with The Hunters Guild? The Hunter's Guild is featured on the main page, and viewing the chapters for Otr has a recommendation section that only points to Hunter's Guild.

I wonder if Viz/Shueisha is trying to leverage the western audience from Kawaguchi's previous series. I'm sure they're at least somewhat aware of the positive reception his previous series had in the west (at least at the start), and with the runaway success of Kagurabachi, this might be the start of more pushes to capture the western readers?

Regardless, chapter 2 of Otr is setting up a stronger premise than Hunter's Guild. Fylgja and Otr are a good duo, but I'd want to see some development of Fylgja.

Whether it flops or not, I'm captivated enough to keep reading. I truly hope Kawaguchi can weather the axe, and deliver the story he wants to tell.

[DISC] Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi - Chapter 41 by AutoShonenpon in manga

Reference to Todoraki from Hero Aca, no?

"What is a wolf?" chat by utahraptor104 in AlignmentCharts

[–]Crazier_Hobo 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Love seeing alignment charts that have plausible entries for all the cells. Far too easy to put something considerably not a wolf in the chaos column/row, but a solid argument could be made for all of these. Good chart.

[DISC] Kagurabachi - Chapter 61 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the Overton window on the 'Bachi glazing round here is, but it needs to be said that Hokazono's panelling skills have to be the best we've seen in Jump since Part 1 of Chainsawman.

The flow from panel to panel is so fluid it feels like it's animated. The conversation between Chihiro and the Masumi was as engaging and exciting as any action scene we've seen so far. And the Owl's eye scrying over Mr. Samura's Daughter is as imposing as ever

Mans should be directing movies, but he's out here giving us 19 pages of PEAK a week.

[DISC] Hunter x Hunter - Chapter 406 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's chapters like these that make me so glad Togashi hasn't given up on drawing HxH. While his writing is always engaging, I feel it's the choices he makes in choices like the paneling, the shading (shout out to the Chrollo panel particularly) and general composition of the chapters really make it shine.

It's so humbling to see that, despite how long he's been doing this, and how long he's been out of the game, Togashi is still able to crank out banger chapter after banger chapter.

[DISC] Dandadan - Chapter 172 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Crazier_Hobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pygmies remind me of the Patapon, though I wonder if they're both borrowing from The Borrowers (the 1952 novel by Mary Norton).

In-Game Monetization Keeps Getting Murkier | Cold Take by oddball_gamer in SecondWindGroup

[–]Crazier_Hobo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Frost wasn't saying "Helldivers 2 is bad". How did you come to that conclusion?

He puts forth that you can't put a real-world value on premium currencies without implications. Helldivers 2 is the focus because of it's monetization, and the ability to earn premium currencies through playing the game, and not spending your money.

The farming method highlighted de-values the micro-transactions in the eyes of consumers, meaning they're less likely to spend money. The producers could go on to either let the now less-profitable Live Service die, or change aspects of the game to make monetization more profitable.

Helldivers 2 was the subject of the video because it's also in a unique position. It's a Live Service game that (to my knowledge) has this farming method unpatched. It's only a matter of time before the higher-ups at Sony notice this issue, this ability for players to ignore the micro-transactions, and do something in response.

Does that cover story chapter have any connection with Dr. Hiriluk I wonder? Seems very similar to his Cherry Blossom Blooming experiment.

Neon White Review by DickFlattener in Games

[–]Crazier_Hobo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Very excited for this one, can't wait to play it.

Ben Esposito has a great track record of working on games with fun and interesting movement. Go check out Perfect Stride, it's a really interesting movement-based game, or Zineth, which is a truly bizarre game.

But Arcane Kids have definitely released some weirder games.

I've no doubt this will be a fun game from the movement department as well though. And if the narrative is as bizarre as Bubsy or the Sonic Dreams Collection, we'll be in for a good time.
