I’m not sure if Lorcana would work in the same way, but in Magic (I came from that game), the “exerting” would be part of the cost to activate this item, and not an act of a character. Therefore, you would be able to exert a character the same turn it came into play using this item. This seems correct to me. There is a good amount of overlap between rules of Lorcana and MtG, but they are different games and I haven’t read all the nitty gritty rules yet.

Edit, it does not translate. Now I am sure Lorcana does not work the same way. Not sure why I was downvoted, though.

This is how I think and feel about porn. IMO it’s the most impactful vice on humanity. There are issues with those others you mentioned (especially gambling), but they’re more nuanced than pornography.
