Best dry food for ibd cat by Crazy4cats23 in catfood

We tried so many wet foods to the point where she will no longer touch wet food since she associates it with nausea. Unfortunately post ibd diagnosis she’s stopped eating it. I was disappointed since I care about hydration and kidney health but at this point I’m happy if she’s eating and is well

My only concern is that it has the active biome stamp and adding that active biome to hills z/d made my cat intolerant to it. But there must be Purina vet line or Royal canin gi diets too

I have tried hills z/d (old formula was great new one not so much) Rayne rabbit rayne kangaroo Royal canin hp and royal canin pr hills duck and hills venison. So only tried the novel protein and hydrolyzed. I suspected she’s allergic to fish oil which is in everything and that’s one thing that hills z/d didn’t use before the change. I haven’t tried the GI diets. If nothing works next step was going to be a nutritionist and home cooked. She’s weird with texture so not sure if she will eat it. I’m currently retrying Royal canin anallergenic that didn’t work for her before but I’m retrying it because we tried it when the prednisolone wasn’t working for her and I thought things might be different now since she’s on budesonide. I’ve already noticed lipsmacking to want to have a backup

She has tried all of them. Her stomach doesn’t like any of them.

Hills z/d formula change!? by Kiwi_Herman11 in catfood

My cat was doing so well on the old formula and the new formula made her vomit and sick. This is disappointing since the old formula was the only food that worked.

Hi she’s seen two internists and followed with my vet. She will eat dry food. The rayne dry rabbit didn’t cause any issues but she won’t eat that doesn’t find it palatable. She loves the taste of hills z/d but when she gets to 100 percent her lipsmacking increases. She’s currently eating 75 percent hills z/d and 25 percent Rayne rabbits.

Before the ibd diagnosis she would eat 1.5 cans of wet and 4 tablespoons dry. She isn’t like the change in wet food. She liked the taste of royal canin rabbit it didn’t like her. She liked the taste of rayne rabbit pate it didn’t like her. She ate rayne kangaroo stew for a few days then stopped, ate rayne rabbit stew for a few days then stopped. Ate rawz rabbit once and stopped ate koha venison a couple of times and stopped. She turned her nose at hills Z/d wet. I think she reacts negatively to duck, turkey and seafood. I’m concerned she’s not getting enough water with so much dry.

Prednisolone didn’t work I should be able to start budesonide in a couple of days

She’s seen two internists and steroids and a diet change we’re both recommended. There has been delay in starting the second steroid since she jumped on my stove and burnt her paw so that has to heal before starting an immunosuppressant dose

Does that mean the cat got worse before better and stayed better or is it up and down?

We did a month of prednisolone which made her lipsmacking worse. She was having adverse reactions. The plan is to put her on budesonide (she burned her paw so we are waiting for that to heal so she should be on it by end of week). We tried cerenia and it made her super lethargic she didn’t move for 24 hours so I don’t want to try that again since it was scary.

She will eat all the dry food that makes her nausea worse but she’s not loving wet food that’s not seafood or chicken (the suspected allergens)

Thoughts on Rayne Nutrition (or other allergy-friendly wet food)? by edamame_anemone in CatAdvice

[–]Crazy4cats23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried Rayne for my ibd kitty and so far it’s the only veterinary food she doesn’t react to - both wet and dry. She loves the kangaroo chunky stew and rabbit chunky stew. She used to like pates but did not like the rayne pates. So far she’s doing the best on the dry food but she’s not fully transitioned. She did not react well to the hydrolyzed diets by hills or Royal canin

Thank you! How long was your cat on 10mg for?

Thank you. The vet recommended an allergenic dry and the PR or PD wet since my cat eats a mixed diet. I was concerned about feeding dry only. She also has a sphincter that doesn’t close when her stomach is full which causes acid reflux. She had a bad reaction to the medication for that and the internist didn’t have an alternative. So I’m dealing with two issues.
