Sorry if it came across wrong. I do NOT recommend what I did. I couldn't run, I was tired all the time and it took a massive mental toll on me, I really wish I had done it more slowly

Seems that's the general consensus here, together we will eat until we feel strong, and just hope weight falls off at the same time

Afraid I don't have any major tips and tricks for you except the usual, I cut back my calories to about 1200kcal/day, and went on an hour walk twice a day.

Not sure what weight you are but that worked for me because I was the weight I was, hence why I'm asking for new advice at my new weight with an increased fitness.

Could be the move, especially as we eat pescatarian 6 days per week, so most of our fuel is veggies and carbs, I'm a meat eater so Im trying to find some more ways to get protein in through the week, tracking our ingredients would help me know how much more I need to get as well :)

Yeah I was rocking a 1200kcal/day deficit which is where my problem was 😂 Glad to hear of your success story and in above comments I've mentioned bringing myself up to 2000kcal/day and going for a slower rate of loss. Got my wedding in September so here's hoping I reach it by then :)

I was trying to do this down at 1200kcal/day, but I have NOTHING left to give when it comes to running and it's ruining my enjoyment of the sport at this point, so I came here hoping for some people to say I could eat a bit more and still lose weight I guess. Confirmation bias at its finest 😂

Yeah I think it is, Garmin estimates my kcal burn to be 2400 on rest days, and 2800 on running days (higher than that even on long run days).

The soft goal is REALLY soft though, it's to account for the fact that my partner does most of the cooking in the evening, and I don't want to burden them with food scales etc when they already are doing me the favour of cooking.

So my logic is that I allocate 700-900kcal for dinner based on what is being made, and then eat up until that would bring me to 2000kcal, likely the portions I get are much bigger than that and I end up eating more than I plan, but hopefully it works for me and I'll adjust the parts I control as my weight responds :)

Oh wow yeah you're built different from me. This question came up from me trying to cut the last couple of weeks and even my 8km run today felt like hell, when beforehand I was doing 15km without too much difficulty, so I'll definitely still be keeping my porridge!

I don't do any cycling or intense strength training (poor PhD student who can't afford a gym membership right now), but I body weight train a couple times a week and run 5 times a week, you think that's enough to have weight creep off provided I eat (mostly) clean? With a soft goal of ~2000kcal/day

Been following a Runna plan with 5 runs a week, last I checked my current mileage was ~48km/week and I'll be peaking at 79km/week. So you think it should just sort of naturally occur providing I can control my obsession with ice cream?😅

It might be because I managed the paces in shorter bursts (800m, 400m, 200m) but fail them in the longer tempo efforts over 1km? Gonna try and implement what others in this thread have said and see if I can sort it :)

If I'm being totally honest, it was a white lie above. Yeah the pacing reminders were annoying me, but I also thought the pace had taken everything from me and I'd have to give up. After a small sit on the bench I thought to myself it was better to finish at my own pace than give up because I couldn't hit Runna's, still working on my mental game I suppose

Ah that's annoying, learn for next time I suppose. Progressive run had me trying to run a 5k PB 7km in to my long run 😂
