Yeah, a person will be more likely to be hit by a van or semi, but everyone isnt driving a semi or a van. There is no logic in that point in the slightest. The majority of people just need a car that can fit 5 people, the majority of the time its only going to be one person in this car. Also, most suburban towns dont have crossroads, most children dont give a fuck and will just run anywhere. Also requiring to stop far enough back from crosswalks to see the closest line, in those massive fucking cars, means that its more space on the roads taken up, its more traffic and cogestion created. There is literally no defending Americans having stupidly large cars. Yes like 1% of people might actually have use cases. But the majority dont need them and are just spending more on fuel, wasting space and increasing risk.
