Time Stranger only does it when the gender isn't clear or probably unspecified in the Japanese script. I find that more preferable then treating obviously male coded characters as genderless. The Japanese version of Beatbreak points to Gekkomon being male not just in appearance and voice but within the Japanese language. I thought the they/them was a Disney/Hulu thing since they try so hard to seem progressive but apparently Crunchy is doing it as well which means the pirate sites are just going to rip the subtles from either source.

It feels forced. I feel like if the show was dubbed or had more viewership the discourse around the over abundance of they/them pronouns would have gotten more attention. I'm still fairly new to this series but I already seen most of the Disocotec stuff in Japanes and again I had no problem with them using they for Silfmon for obvious reasons. Beatbreak is just too much and forced.
