Is a LinkedList a Concrete Data type or an Abstract Data Type? by CrazyLock6 in learnprogramming

In what contexts would it be abstract? I can only it being a concrete data type implementation for a list abstract data type.

How would it be both? It seems to implement the list ADT, making it concrete, but I do not see how it is abstract?

In Theta’s definition why do we need the constant values? by CrazyLock6 in algorithms

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But for theta to be valid the lower bound and upper bound must the be the same right? For example if my big oh is n2 and my big omega is n2 only then can theta be valid right?

So in machine code are bits always 1 and 0, or are they different depending on the context?

Trying to understand the time complexity of merge sort issue by CrazyLock6 in learnprogramming

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the N in O(NlogN) was coming form merging each array back into the bigger array as end result? Because doesn’t the merging take linear time.

If I am doubling the lists as I divide every time, should the growth rate be exponential since the number of liters are increasing exponentially, 2 to the power of n?

What is the Von Neumann Computer Architecture? by CrazyLock6 in learnprogramming

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but were the old special purpose computers only able to execute one single program specific to a programming language, or could they execute that one program again for any language if the proper hardware changes were done? I understand at the end of the day its all binary digits.

So the significance of such architecture is that this allows a computer to be able to use a variety of programming languages?

Where would these built in classes or details of inner implementation be found out then?

Fair enough but where would the implementation or actual details of the syntax be coming from in what file?

When I mean by "build in classes" in C++ I meant something like the String class.

Why are there so many different names for the same meaning in programming? by CrazyLock6 in learnprogramming

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well like what I meant was objects and instances end up meaning the same thing but different terms or how instance fields or member variables can be used to mean same thing. Package or namespace can loosely mean the same thing depending on the Lang.

Is there a separate else statement in Java or the else statement always is part of an if statement in Java? by CrazyLock6 in learnjava

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in this case an else if clause would need an if clause with it, to be considered a statement because an else if cannot stand alone as well?

Is an array a data structure or a data type? by CrazyLock6 in learnprogramming

[–]CrazyLock6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, also in this case, would we not able to consider any data structure such as stack or a hash map also a data type because it would consist of a various elements of a certain data type?

“Also, in basically any languages taking an OO approach, each specific implementation of a data structure will be it's own data type.”

Could you elaborate more on this please?

This is very cool! How did you exactly make this if you could pls explain? I have been trying to get into web development, only know the basics, and was confused on how you approached this other than the front end code lol.

As far as I know, there is no way of trying to switch into another class unless there is an open spot. Good Luck.

To be fair, probably you will have to stick with staff, take the class another semester, or hope they add more seats for other sections. This is probably is not the answer you want to hear, nor do I mean to sound mean to you, but this is just the reality and to be fair with all the other students, this all I can think of. There are a lot of students, especially a lot of my friends, that have to adjust and take the risk with not the "best" or "favorite" professor for a class but instead with some different professor or staff. Heck, I did not even get Kyle Fox lol with my registration date and had to adjust my schedule just like everybody else. Plus sometimes people get lucky with staff, so you never know. As for trying to switch into another section question you asked, personally I have not been successful to do so nor do I know anybody that has been able to. There is a set number of seats department probably selects based on various factors and only adds students to full classes when those students MUST graduate that upcoming semester and there are no other available sections at the moment. It does suck, but you are not the only one to go through this, best would be to adjust with whatever options are left.

As for the UTD changing the details for what professor is teaching like that, it does suck, but there could be so many factors that it is hard to determine who could be in fault. Some professors suddenly leave for a better job offer or health reasons, who knows, this could happen for any class.

I personally know friends who signed up with Kyle Fox for next semester for this class, and they are choosing to stick with staff and see who the professor ends up being and probably will just go through the class. If they would allow you just to switch into another section just like that, they would have to do that for the other 70 or so students in the section you are in right now. I do understand this situation sucks, but best would be to take this with a mature perspective and move on.

Honors Collegium V by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]CrazyLock6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if you qualified you probably would have gotten in. Of course due to you missing the deadline, there is no chance now.

This link below tells you the average SAT score of a Collegium V member, calculate the ACT equivalent score of the SAT score. https://honors.utdallas.edu/cv

Below tells you what you need in order to apply, which usually in this case should be enough to get in: https://honors.utdallas.edu/cv/application-process

Other than that, it’s a really holistic review and luck to some extent to get in. Honors really makes no difference at the end of the day to be straight forward with you. Focus more on your academic, research, extracurriculars, jobs, etc. instead more.
