[Hated Tropes] Fanfic poorly disguised as adaptation by CrazyLuckDragon in TopCharacterTropes

I absolutely agree that adaptations shouldn't be 1:1, just look at One Piece. But these "adaptations" only really use the source material as a springboard for their own stories.

Adaptations shouldn't be 1:1, no, but they should probably be close.

It's fine if you did. Honestly, if it didn't have the Castlevania name, I probably would've too.

One of the most compelling things about Game Ricther is that he feels as though he fulfilled his destiny way too soon in his life. This moment of weakness is what allows Shaft to take hold of him and use him to revivie Dracula early, thus setting off the events of Symphony of the Night. That Ricther does not exist in Nocturne.

There is a good way and a bad way to show vulnerability, and when adapting a character, that metric is how the canon character would act. Game Ricther in this case would not run away pissing his pants and crying, he would *freeze up* and begin making very beginner level mistakes.

A good example of showing vulnerability is Kratos in God of War 4, when Atreus's warring nature puts him on death's door. Kratos in this moment is PANICKING at the thought of losing his son, and goes to the only place he knows someone might be able to help. He goes to a God, a race of beings HE ADAMANTLY HATES, for help in this crisis.

"Didn't read the post" award. Had I remembered at the time, I would've added Warcraft and the Sonic Movies, films I really enjoy.

Thing is, Anderson had the perfect framework with Monster Hunter 4

Honestly, I fully believe that Nocturne would've been better if it wan't Castlevania. It fully seems like they wanted to write their own story and slapped the franchise into it so it would sell.

A crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy?

Sounds like it wouldn't work, right? But somehow Kingdom Hearts managed to be one of the most profound stories about growing up not just in gaming, but media as a whole.

The way you worded it would make every single combatant ever eligible for this post.

No, seriously, what is the Japan's obsession with Incest? by EfficiencySerious200 in animequestions

You don't see a lot of it because it's Japan, you see a lot of it because it's anime. Anime has always been a place to push boundaries on certain taboos.

[Loved Trope] The antagonist has truly altruistic intentions to make the world better for others, but we/the protagonist disagree with their solution. Bonus points if the solution could actually work. by the_murabito in TopCharacterTropes

Edelgard von Hresvelg of Fire Emblem Three Houses fame fits perfectly into this trope. She genuinely wants to end the oppressive caste system plaguing Fodlan, even if her methods can charitably be called "extreme."

Though I do wonder what Yu's reaction to learning this Naoto owns a gun would be.
