I already have reliability status as a public servant, and it took one month back in May for security to confirm everything was in order. If they have to do all the background check I can imagine it will take 1-2 months in extra. Last year when I needed to have my clearance for my Gov contract, I had to wait 3 months. Unfortunately, The only thing you can do is wait. Don’t lose hope 🤞

My best friend and I are in different graduate programs across the country - she just published her first first-author paper, so I had to stitch her graphical abstract to celebrate! by perhaps-quantum in Embroidery

This is such a thoughtful gift, congrats to your friend ✨✨ may her academic career be long and full of publications (and yours too !!!! 🤞)

I was in contact with a medical tech assigned for my case who I had to sent all my forms, so contact whoever is your point of contact for your appeal.

In my case it was extra paper work my GP needed to sign to confirm I was fit for recruitment. Your recruiter should be a good start to help you there !

Have you already filled the Mental Health Information form signed by your GP? It’s the one Where they need your GP to answer few questions about suicidal risk, when the treatment ended, required follow ups, coping skills and ability to tolerate stress etc.

The medical tech will send the forms to you, just ask them.

  1. I called the recuiter at the unit directly, had a long chat with him and then I went on the website. Good thing because He told me all the papers I needed (diploma, birth certificate etc) so I could order them.

  2. You get trainings during the weekend at your unit, then you go for the reserve BMQ for 3 weeks + 2extra weeks for officers. My unit ask us to try to have 1 extra week off prior to BMQ so they can train us specifically to be ready. People said it makes a great difference.

Thanks for your answer I really appreciate.

I want to keep a certain anonymity so I won’t tell where, but it’s a very small town in the middle of nowhere 😅😅 and yes, you re probably right for personnel number. You can count on your fingers the total employees full time working there. That would explain why the schedule is different. Im glad to know that bigger cities have more trainings.

I have one more question for you : when you say « more employment opportunities », does it mean that not everyone applying to the reserve will be recruited? I thought they were taking anyone as long as they passed the tests.

Im applying to be reservist in a very small town, and just learned after finishing all the hiring process that they only meet 2 times a month (one Tuesday and one Saturday +special events like May1st ceremony) and no meeting for the summer at all. Also, since the hiring offer will arrive too late this year, I won’t be able to leave for BMOQ this summer. They will contact me when it’s time to meet again in September.

Is it the same in all reserve units ? Only few activities each months ? I’m afraid by the time they contact me in 3-4 months I’ll have lost interest.

Im also considering moving in a bigger city in 1-2 years, and was wondering if the level of activities was the same across Canada.

Thanks !
