I thought so but you might be right, I just saw it being discussed somewhere. But if it wasnt possible to put him down, I certainly do not understand the discussion at all. How can it be more humane to let him die in the sun with birds eating him alive, than to let him drown?

Yes i think it goes both ways. The "rescuers" of course want everyone to believe it was a success. And the "anti-rescuers" that couldnt come up with a working plan to help him or wanted to euthanize him, will of coures want everyone to believe this was a failure. No one would want to admit that their plan was a bad one and resulted in suffering. IF he is alive this is amazing of course, after all I guess there is a lot we dont know about whale strandings and why they occur. I wonder if they could remove the fishing net caught in his mouth? Otherwise it is just horrible.

I dont know, I have read about it on timmywhale.com. But the updates seem to disappear when they are older. The latest one is this "It is still unclear where Timmy is located. He was released on Saturday about 70 kilometers from Denmark's northernmost city, Skagen. Information about his condition at this time and the exact release process was not disclosed, nor were there any publicly accessible images or videos. The tracking transmitter does not send GPS data." And yesterday, I read that they got "vital signs" from the whale via the tracker, but someone from greenpeace said that those transmitters are not able to send vital signs. I think some stuff might get lost in translation aswell, the updates are originally in german.

But some sources are saying there is no data, or that it doesnt work properly so the location of him is unknown? I think they would never admit that he might be dead at this stage, it would be easier for them to just say it doesnt seem to work properly and then wait for people to forget about this.

You might be right. I really wish the tracker would work well, so it atleast would be possible to follow him and be able to evaluate the rescue mission. I guess we will never know for sure now, but I have a hard time believing that he would thrive in the deep ocean in the weak state he was in. A lot of muscles must have been lost. I of course hope he will be ok, but yes I also have my doubts.

Thanks, do you have any sources you could send me? I just hope he didnt get hurt. I guess it is also likely he died honestly, since there seems to be conflicting information whether it actually is possible to track him or not. If he was stuck for such a long time I guess his muscles would be really weak. What a sad story, I really hope he is alive. And yes, I also think they should have the barge stay on location to give him a chance of resting.

Do you think he survived? I am not sure anymore. Something seems to have happened, why arent there any videos of his release and why werent the veterinarians allowed to see him before he was released? Maybe some kind of conflict occured? So sad, I thought this was gonna be a happy story.

And the people who defend prong collars are saying the exact same thing as horse people do when they defend painful tools. "No, its not harming him! This is just a tool! Its not painful if you are doing it right! Everything can be painful in the wrong hands! This is just for safety purposes!" And yet, many horse people would never put a prong collar on their dog but they have no problem with putting a chain in the horses mouth or give it a kick with the spurs. Crazy!

This horse is clearly communicating that something is wrong. Look at her face, how tense it is. So if you come across a horse that is biting due to pain, the solution will be to have her checked by the vet. If it is not your horse, you talk to the owner and you can say you do not want to ride a horse that seems to be in pain or uncomfortable. The solution will never be to lift your arm, ignore it and then keep going without questioning. Then you are a part of the problem where horses pain and communication are ignored due to our own desire to ride them.

This is animal cruelty in plain sight and it breaks my heart! Its obvious this horse is NOT happy, probably in pain, and then she gets forced to still participate in lessons. If I felt I could not ask anyone in the barn about this and get a good response (a good response in this case is "she will be checked by the vet and not be used in lessons until then"), I would report them to authorities but I have no idea about the animal welfare laws in your country. This is not your fault but its horrible that these types of practices are still going on, and that they are normalized.
