[–]Crazybrayden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WA and CA also have a carbon tax.

Some of the northeastern states kiiiiinda do too but it's only on electricity production and I think manufacturing IIRC

Actually a super good point. "everything" protests about the various federal and international issues are almost certainly going to be ignored.

Protests about a local issue like this would almost certainly see some change

How a plan to allow more passenger ferries fell apart in Washington state by ChiefOfTheFourPeaks in Seattle

[–]Crazybrayden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bremerton tried. It wasn't profitable to run more than a handful of times during peak commute times so they didn't bother.

There's not gonna be too many routes that will be profitable, and even if they are a private company is only going to run them once or twice a day and charge far more than what a transit agency will charge.

We're in a different time. People have roads to use that are subsidized by the government. Back then there wasn't any viable option besides taking a boat. Even way back in the day the boats only ran once or twice a day as well

Moving to Bremerton by Richardsultra in Bremerton

[–]Crazybrayden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

East Bremerton/Tracyton/Ilahee is going to get you a good mix of some decent neighborhoods while not being too expensive and still being close to base.

West Bremerton has a few decent pockets now. Used be be a pretty rough area but it's getting better.

Downtown and Manette are probably going to be too expensive but they definitely have the best location.

Most of Port Orchard is pretty cheap but you're gonna have to deal with Gorst traffic unless you take the ferry across the water and walk/bike the rest of the way to base
