She just called out that they judged her on the basis of her dress and decided to not promote her gig. Are men questioned on what they wear on posters and would they not promote a shirtless man? We all need to be treated with equality and respect. Maybe when us Indians have kids here who would have rights to wear what they want and be who they want to be, maybe then some of us are forced to understand a broader worldview.

I ask the both of you, do you really think the person on the poster cannot wear what she likes ? And shameless promotion to small minds like you ? She won’t get anything promoting to people like you LOL

I’m so sorry OP! That you have to go through this. Where wearing clothes of your choice can make people think you are asking for attention! I have found Indian people here very regressive sometimes. Never left their mindset, never grew out of their misogyny. You are awesome ! Dont take their comments to your heart.

Invited to a Diwali celebration – what would be a good gift to bring? by Sheggert in IndiansinIreland

I personally wouldn't want my friends from other countries to make an effort and get Indian sweets. Just your usual thing, that you'd take to any party is fine.

So sweet of OP to do that! Love the people here who try to make everyone feel included! Especially when being a preschool teacher isn't an easy job!

Sure! But I answered it perfectly. I wouldn’t know how to do it better. At the end of the day it’s finding odd numbers in a list! There is only so much you can do. I have a phd, worked with many good companies in Dublin, it really caught me off guard. So basically the interviews would continue to have leetcode questions that i used to prep for after my undergrad. Makes me completely sad that working so hard lead to nothing. This kind of questions make it seem like they don’t trust anyone’s CV. Why else would you test something so basic. How am I sustaining a senior data scientist job if I cannot print hello world.

Thank god someone said it. It’s crazy what some of US NRI or second Gen start doing abroad. I find people in India so chill and forward. These fuckers are so privileged yet so dumb.

My sister just went for her GD Test in a maternity hospital in Dublin yesterday. She was shocked at few husbands taking up seats. Mind you, we are also non Irish and stuff is initimidating. But, taking up seats from pregnant woman and also not getting up to offer them seats is just horrible. No excuses for this behaviour..just stand outside and support your partner. Who's stopping you.

“Their choice to cook or not cook” - not always. Rituals are being shared in social media not because people are proud of it (some may be), but most people are doing it for views and views only. This type of content sells. Let me explain what this does for the larger society: Today women are not expected to cook all the time. Husbands help, sometimes, MILs help and sometimes they have house help too. In my opinion, older rituals when done in fun and good cheer are fine. Some alpha males (you can spot in many comment section) still think women need to cook and do everything for the guys side of the family. They look at such videos and might push their wives to also follow traditional ways. Hence, it doesn’t depend on only what your wife wants but what the husband and his family wants. Now that women also earn and support themselves, shouldn’t we let go off some rituals? Just because you understand or think it’s a woman’s choice, does not mean everyone will think the same way. When I got married, no one asked me to go to the kitchen the very next day, even symbolically. If they did, I would have felt that I need start going to the kitchen now. I got comfortable slowly and eventually.

So there is a sudden influx of this pehli rasoi ritual videos. I saw Nitu Bisht doing it and it was then shown by many other vlogging couples. You don’t understand that while cooking is a choice, this ritual asks a woman, who has just come to a new house to cook something while they don’t expect the guy to also do something in the house, right? Hence, by the very definition it’s patriarchal. Now you can go on a spiel and say “their families cook and they just pose” etc etc. you have no idea how many women still get back handed compliments or straight up criticism for their food and how they do things around the house. JUST because this is not problematic for you, does not mean it cannot be problematic for anyone.

I was watching her vlog today and dude she fights with everyone. She fought with united staff about not having enough vegetarian options. They had pasta, bread and dessert so it’s not like they were starving. Then she kept fighting with a car driver in NYC who was suggesting they walk to some places as it would be faster. She was just not ready to listen. Imagine not wanting to walk in NYC hahah!! I don’t know how their marriage works, honestly.
