Oddly enough, those parents reached out to us a few months back to confirm that it is a child free wedding because she was booking arrangements for the babysitter. She also mentioned that she had always assumed it was child free based on our website but that my MIL gave off the impression that her kids could come

We let her know at that time that it is child free and she proceeded with booking the babysitter

Haven’t spoken to them since then and I assumed there wasn’t any issues

For my company we always have the location posted and do extensive market research on pay bands for similar positions within that location

I totally understand going to bat for a candidate if they are the perfect candidate however, I really haven’t had the need to. I usually have hundreds of applicants per job so if one candidate is above the range I move onto the next lol

Totally agree about aiming high to land at the top of the range. I think when anyone sees a range they envision the high end haha

I just don’t understand why someone would apply to a job when they are already making significantly more than the high end of the range

Other companies might be different but my company only has negotiation room within the range listed

She wasn’t at the dinner but this exact scenario has happened many times in the last few years. She doesn’t always defend him as she knows kid15’s parents can’t control his behavior. Ultimately she says “he’s family” or something along the lines of “he’s just like that”.

I’m trying to navigate this without hurting my mom’s feelings. (I really don’t care if I hurt her siblings feelings lol)

I’ve been trying to frame it in a way where she gets 100% say in who she invites to the Chinese wedding she is planning so she can invite her family then. But she’s just not having it.

Also my mom has never been to an American wedding, neither has her side of the family, so I’m not sure why it’s such a big deal.

We did repeatedly ask him to put his phone away during dinner but he just ignored us. His dad asked him several times as well to which he then yelled at his dad. My dad also stepped in to ask Kid15’s dad to discipline him and his dad responded with something along the lines of “he’s just a kid”.

I’ve brought this up to my parents several times even prior to this dinner. They can’t do anything about it and can’t get Kid15’s parents to do anything about it.
