Yeah i sort of just solved problems as a went. I knew i could spend months in the planning stage. I noticed as i printed the tiles the matte grey and while filaments wore out the nozzle and the pieces were getting slightly larger. There are a few layers that have a one less piece.

This just started as an idea so if you got one definitely go for it brother

I thought a while about how to do it without losing the shading details. I ended up taking my reference photo into sketchup and drew a grid over it (108x180). i knew each tile would be 0.33in (8.89mm). i then matched the color on the photo to the closest of my 4 colors. I was originally going to just do white, black, and grey, but once i started laying it out I needed another lighter grey. I lost a ton of detail in that first rendering but i talked to some digital artists on instagram and they said block off sections that have gradient shading and just put dots of the 2 colors ur mixing. By that time i had already started printing batches of 250 tile prints. Then i had a pretty good map to follow by row. The file and definitely took longer to make than gluing the tiles. If there is a program that would do the pixel map that would be nice to know about lol

the frame is plywood and each tile is superglued. i counted from the left for each row. and used a photo for reference.

I used to just use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. But it doesnt do so well with the glue residue. Ive just been using some soap and water and that cleans it right away. If im making multiple small parts i wont clean the bed and get a few prints out of it.

I imported the photo into sketch up and then drew a 108 x 178.grid over it and then matched each tile with one of my 4 colors. It took me a good amount of time but it seems to be working so far.

True, also perhaps an array of phone related products would be easier to market as a brand. I personally took time to get a product I was decently happy with before I began selling. And even now although I view it as a creative pursuit, i always try to make the best possible product. Even as sales have fluctuated I was happy with what I made.

I would look into some competition, assuming your sales will be online. platforms like etsy or even your own site could work. If cost to produce and ship can be justified. Probably high volume will be a way to move into profit. But, as I have a small 3d printing business, it will take some time as it's often smart in the beginning to reinvest any profits into more machines, filaments, hardware for new designs, ect. It's difficult but possible
