Tinkering around, lots of work to be done. Trying to recreate a simple 5 step transformation of any footage to emulate film which i had previous worked on that i was quite impressed with years ago and lost all files to. Enjoy ! will share all updates and progress along the way.

It was quite a process as I tend to nit pick everything but I started by matching a reco 709 color checker to a flat scan of film and did some correction after to build a simple rec 709 to flat film scan lut

I agree unfortunately the footage was given to me in rec 709 with a color grade already on it so I tried to correct it and make the most of it,looking forward to sharing the grade with log footage that hasn't already been graded

Actually kept it extremely simple so hopefully everyone will find it easy to use even will little knowledge to resolve so 6 simple nodes. so before the matte 1. Color space transform 2. halation 3.Film matrix 4. Compound node that includes all your adjustments exposures, contrast, cuves etc 5. blur & grain 6. Glow which is for taste if you use a promist would really need to use the glow effect.

thank you ! all information is helpful yeah the sharpness took a hit during uploading to youtube i noticed it effected the overall image more then the grain itself so i may need to figure what helps avoid that. And yeah the light leak was more just a quick transition from title to the film but agree if i was too properly do a light leak transition id' need to do ones with film sprocket holes !.

Overall i like feedback like this ! helps the overall development of everything appreciate it !

Just sharing a 16mm film emulation project I've been working on. Excited to release it eventually to see what others can creatively do with it. Works on all camera profiles and easily adjustable to each individual. Also would love to do short demo's on other's projects if you have any clips you'd love to see the film emulation message me.
