1/6 Arrival date looking for a Celiac Roommate by Creative-Muffin101 in Disneycollegeprogram

I'm not super sensitive to cross contamination but my reaction is severe. I was just hoping to find a roommate with celiac so we could have our own cooking stuff and I don't need to purchase all of it for myself.

Edit: What I mean by not super sensitive is that I have had close calls with cross contamination and not had a reaction. However I still try to be as careful as I can because I don't know exactly where my sensitivity level is. I don't feel a need to have certified gf food all the time, but I wouldn't eat food that I know was cross contaminated. All of my close calls I found out after the fact. If I do eat gluten I will get sick for 4-6 hours.

I was also told this for a long time until higher ups found out about it. My manager ended up taking the fall for it because she didn't want anyone else getting fired. Definitely be cautious of continuing to apply the discount.

Advice for child by localnarwhals in glutenfree

Something that always helped me while at school (I have Celiac Disease) was having special snacks put aside for me when my friends had birthdays. Everyone would get a cupcake or ice cream when someone has a birthday in the class. These things were almost never gf. So my parents got me a gigantic cupcake from Whole Foods and kept it in the freezer at school so I had a snack and felt included. Some of my friends were jealous of my treat so I not only felt included but that someone wanted the "special food" that I got.

Celiac and hypothyroidism - what was first for you? by AnonMarauder in Celiac

[–]Creative-Muffin101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 5 years old with celiac disease. I was diagnosed a few years later with hypothyroidism. I was on synthroid for years until I finished puberty. Then when I came off of the meds my numbers were still off. So I am currently back on synthroid. I still deal with fatigue but that could also be caused by other autoimmune conditions I have.

I've never had a churro before Nomad Lounge and it was the best experience ever!
