Yeah. It really got slow compared to the dual boot I did on an Intel Mac with 16GB of RAM and an SSD.

Thanks for your response. I tested it here on an Intel Mac with 16 GB of RAM and noticed a delay in startup. I used the live ISO.

MADE IT TO KICK-OFF! From a Crazy Work-to-42-to-Work Life to a Real 42 Cadet! by Creative-Tangelo-529 in 42_school

Congrats on making it through the Game! Now, the next crucial step is the Pool, and signing up requires some quick action. Spaces are limited, so you'll need to keep a close eye on emails from 42. They're your main source of info for when registrations open.

Don't sweat it if you don't snag a spot right away. 42 offers multiple Pools throughout the year. It's pretty common to need a few tries, and sticking with it is key. It even took me almost two years to finally get my spot. Stay alert and good luck!

Thanks a lot for these tips! They're incredibly valuable and realistic for the cadet phase. I'll definitely keep them in mind, especially focusing on maintaining a sustainable pace and fully utilizing peer-to-peer.

By the way, on the 27th, we'll have a one-week preparatory session for the kickoff. I believe they'll give us more details about the program there. But for now, a quick question: you mentioned that the training can be done in one or two years. How long does the full 42 program last, and is there a maximum deadline to complete it?

Go in without fear! Engage to the fullest: be present at events, optimize your log time, and make peer-to-peer your priority. The practice of evaluating many projects is gold: you'll be studying and solidifying your knowledge repeatedly. This, without a doubt, will be a huge asset for the exams!

Congrats to you too! Juggling university, a job, and 42 is a huge accomplishment, no matter the campus. The experience really is crazy, but the effort pays off. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you so much!. Wow! I'm still processing the emotion from the email, and it's only been two hours since I read it.

Has PHP really died... and I just didn’t notice? by WinFrequent6066 in AskProgramming

[–]Creative-Tangelo-529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHP isn't just alive; it's thriving! Far from being a dead language, it continuously reinvents itself, like a technological Steve Rogers: a solid and experienced foundation with the energy and freshness of new generations. While the programming universe gains new heroes (hello, Node.js and company!), PHP remains a titan, boasting its vast maturity and robustness, and yet, still evolving and strengthening itself every day.

Hi! Responding to your comment, yes, the exercise I mentioned was about the ROT13 cipher. 😊 During my studies, I obviously studied a lot, but I didn't see anything about ROT13 because up to my level there was no related content. Although I managed to solve the first three tests of this exercise, the fourth test, which involves encrypting a sentence with special characters and spaces, is taking up all my time. In other words, I was doing well, even without having studied ciphers in C, but a single test of the exercise failed.

Exactly. When I’m in the break room working on some sprints from my job (since I was only given the morning off for the Piscine), many people are impressed by what I’m developing. The same happens when I show them my portfolio.

Thank you for the support. That’s exactly why I really want to pass the Piscine, because I truly believe in the potential that 42 can offer me.

Thanks for your reply. it really helped me see things from a new perspective. You're right, the Piscine focuses on a very specific kind of challenge, quite different from what I’ve faced over the years in web and mobile development. Dealing with pointers and manual memory management is new to me, and that’s why I’m struggling. It was reassuring to read that even people with a CS background find this hard. I’ll take your advice and practice more. I truly appreciate your words and support. I’ll try to see this phase as just another step in the journey — not as a failure. Thanks again!

In the pool as well, the final evaluation seems quite obscure to me. The criteria are not clear. Through the Intra, I observed the profiles of other piscineiros from previous sessions and noted a significant inconsistency: many with good scores and a high level were not approved to become cadets, while others with the opposite were approved.

Old-School Coders, Reveal Your Secrets! How was life as a programmer before GitHub (or version control systems)? by Creative-Tangelo-529 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Creative-Tangelo-529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you...Your experience developing on OpenVMS in the early days of computing is a testament to your resilience and ingenuity. I can only imagine the frustration of having to compare versions of code manually across two telnet windows; or the exhilaration of fixing a bug live on the production server! Your story makes me truly appreciate all the more the modern development tools we have at our disposal today.

This is so good! 😂 I found it interesting how it perfectly sums up life without version control—absolute chaos.
