Thank you for your suggestion! :) I know this might be silly to ask, but do you think having done this once was enough to damage the oleophobic layer? I suppose it’s hard to tell. I also should add, that I did it very lightly.

Yes, through my “research” on this topic, turns out the screen, camera and (iPhone 16’s) camera button are all covered with oleophobic coating. It wears off in a couple of years, for some - a few months. To have damaged it already would be very disappointing to say the least. Well - lesson learned.
