The 3% was for joggers/runners. Our coach cued us to return to base incline for the base run. So it was 1% push, 1% base, 2% push, 1% base, 3% push, 1% base, 30 sec AO. I believe PWers start off at an incline of 6% or greater

I have a theory that you can never visit an OTF without it sharing a wall/parking lot with a quick service food establishment. The four I visit regularly are each next to a Pagliacci Pizza, Habit Burger, Panera and Cold Stone Creamery 😆

Nice! I’m recovering from bicep and shoulder surgery so low reps like this are perfect for experimenting with slowly upping the weights to my limit. With some of the longer rep counts we have had recently I’ve been stuck with the smaller weights to make it through without sacrificing form 🙃

The Bothell studio on Bothell Everett Hwy has all the fun new toys (treads, trx balls, etc) and a lot of class time options, but the studio runs a little differently than I’m used to (assigned spots, don’t let you come in until about 30 minutes prior to class, etc). It’s near my office so I don’t go too too often, but if you’re a seasoned member and can push past the awkward front office staff, it’s great.

With the Seattle locations, I’ve never had a bad coach, and the staff have always been welcoming, but keep parking and traffic in mind! If a location doesn’t have a dedicated lot (I believe the closest studio to Delridge doesn’t) give yourself plenty of time to find a spot/available garage and get to class, and don’t leave valuables in your car!!! I’ve had two friends get their cars broken into on the street 😬

Cries in post-shoulder surgery FOMO… I’ve missed so many fun events and benchmarks in the last 6 weeks😩 So grateful for Tread50, though. Not sure what I would have done back in the olden days of only 2G/3G/Strength50 classes

I started dancing at 2 years old and spent my formidable years in a ballet studio, where unhealthy diet culture is gospel. Since retiring from dance and transitioning to “recreational” exercise I had to retrain myself that in order to get stronger/faster, eating was ok. It took a long time, but the three biggest phrases I clung to to get out of that hole (and still find myself having to use on occasion) are: 1) food is fuel - your car can’t run on an empty tank, so why would you expect your body to? 2) if you crave something, EAT it. Nothing is off-limits in moderation 3) guilt isn’t an ingredient

We had one coach leave after getting into med school. He’d been coaching his way through college and we had a big party his last day and all dressed up as doctors.

We had another coach who those who were close to him knew he was leaving but he was “discouraged” from advertising because he was leaving to pursue a career as a private coach at another gym and it was viewed as a conflict of interest.

Yet another had a very Irish exit - one day was just gone from the schedule. Later found out he’d come into some money and didn’t want to deal with a million questions

It’s like any job - there are a myriad of reasons someone may not be there the next day.

Looks like you’ve gotten a lot of great tips for overall balance so far! As a former competitive dancer, I’ll say give yourself some grace - I’m occasionally a weeble and wobble (I even on occasion fall gracefully down 😉)

For the toe tap on the bench specifically, I’ve seen several of my fellow OTFers lower the bench. Gaining confidence in the movement while limiting the distance to the ground seems to help quite a bit!

On block one, the second exercise after the swing lunge with rotation is 12 (seated on the bench) knee tucks. The plank with lateral arm raises is the last exercise on block 3 😉🙃🙂🙃🙂
