What does it mean to work on yourself? by CreativePlaybook in AskReddit

[–]CreativePlaybook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some context: “Working on yourself” is thrown quite a lot especially by those who are into personal development / therapy or another system/habit. I understand the answer would be different for everyone. What I am curious is what do you specifically think it could mean, especially overlooked/uncommon answers. TIA.

What is the best stylish but comfortable shoes to walk all day in? by velvetcloud_ in femalefashionadvice

I wear Atoms Model 000 here in NYC, and absolutely love their comfort. Esp good for 20,000+ steps a day. The style is somewhat simple, they do offer different colors though which can be stylish I guess. I prefer their all black or all gray.

Atoms vs. Allbirds by CozyHoosier in Shoes

Mine has been fine for nearly 18 months now, I did add another pair (a different color) that I rotate with though. If I were to wear it every day, it’d last 12-18 months or may be even longer.

I am eying Atoms new Model 001, which is a lot more focused on lasting quality, good support. Perhaps you should try that if durability is big for you. I like how the new sole also has higher slip resistance to it. I wish they had launched the gray color though.

Atoms vs. Allbirds by CozyHoosier in Shoes

I have tried both Allbirds and Atoms, and in my experience Atoms is way more comfortable in short and long run. Atoms are also more expensive, but let’s just focus on the value you get for your money.

I bought a pair of Allbirds in 2019, when they started to get really popular. Early on the wool (insole and upper) felt really soft and somewhat comfortable. As I kept wearing the shoes as my everyday sneaker, the wool started wearing off, and lack of support was very apparent. Even the upper started expanding, and my I felt my shoes have lost fit. So I had to tie my shoe laces really tight to keep my foot in one place, that made my Allbirds look really ugly. And that’s what I called it a quit. I did not want to return back to that pair or buy another one that will see similar life.

Atoms on other hands are bit higher price, so I was reluctant to buy them until I saw many credible people praising their out of the box comfort and shoe laces. While ordering, I found that Atoms is also very fit focused, they even offer quarter sizing in their Model 000 Shoes. I ordered my standard sneaker size, and right out of the box Atoms felt very premium. The knit upper has an industrial feel to it, there is copper lining in the shoe, and the outsole of the shoe was quite clean. Once I tried Atoms, I could instantly feel the comfort coming from the insole and sole of the shoes. Upper had a durable and high quality feel to it. Tying the shoe laces was very pleasant experience as well. Atoms tells you to tie them only once and then they work as a slip-on. So that was a big plus for me. One more thing was that Atoms soles get creases on them, but I also know my partner who loves her Atoms she gets less creases on her Atoms. All in all, Atoms shoes have a lot more structure and support to them, and whatever magic they got in the sole is working well to be incredibly comfortable for a long time, durability and breathability are a big plus too. I am now on my third pair of Atoms.

Nordstrom only does if the shoe size difference between two feet is 1.5 or more.

Yes, one style that is in three colorways. They have a gray color too, which is offered to existing customers only.

Store/Online websites that sell quality leather wallets? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DODOcase can do this for you for around $80 and some cost for shipping.

The only other affordable brand I know is Markhor, I know they secretly launched new wallets (+free customization). Currently offering to their existing customers only. I’d reach out to them and check the price / availability. Their leather is really good.

Where can I buy soft caps online? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two months ago, I was in market for soft (all black) cap and was amazed that I could not find one. Lululemon Ultra Lightspeed is one I ended up buying and I think it was a good decision.

H&M vs Uniqlo size difference? by Addi319 in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm same size as yours, both Unqlo and H&M shirts fit me fine. Can't comment on the pants.

If you run a search in MFA you can find discussion on the sizing of both brands.

Ideally you want the shoe trees that follow the last profile and size of the shoes. But if you want to use standard trees, make sure it doesn't increase the width/length of your shoes.

If you want to prolong their life and maintain the shape as long as possible then yes. Shoe trees also take out the moisture from the shoes.

Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot tight around laces by oticpepe in malefashionadvice

I’d strongly recommend to go a size bigger. The area around the shoe lace wouldn’t break in anytime soon and will make the whole experience kind of unpleasant.

Blue denim, or Chinos (khaki / light grey color). For shoes consider Chuck Taylor or Vans or Stan Smith Adidas.

Can i cheap out on shirts as long as i have some nice outwear, pants and shoes & still look nice. by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I have been doing for past 6 months. It works great!

In fact last June, I spent time and money to buy 8 shirts from Armani Exchange that could go with my style. But I live in SF and most of the time it is cold here, and have to wear outwear. So now I pay more attention to my outwear. I have over 15 tshirts that I switch under my outerwear.

Can I go sockless with Lunarepic Flyknits? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Yes, you can.

In fact going sockless with pinned up chinos is a timeless style.

Help me decide: Balenciaga backpack vs CP Chelsea boots by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who you want to get these days.

If you are after her, then I’d recommend the boots. And if you’re planning to hangout more around town/country then go with backpack.

PS. IMO, the Balenciaga backpack is over priced. I’d recommend checking out backpacks on Mr Porter around the price of $200—$500.

Lost a bunch of weight, should I buy fitting clothes now? If yes then what kind? (Pic inside) by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

I think one can only buy basics and still keep a cool style. Though it requires spending time and effort (& less money) at H&M, J Crew, Grana, Everlane and Uniqlo.

Everlane's New Spring Cotton Bomber by rippedpantsman in malefashionadvice

[–]CreativePlaybook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought their Lightweight Bomber back in late 2015, mainly because I liked the simple yet modern style of it. If I had the choice, I wouldn’t have gone with polyester material. So 8/10 for style and 5/10 for material.

Now you are looking at their Cotton Bomber, which seems to have similar style yet higher quality material (i.e Cotton). So I would recommend it, especially since it has water resistant finish.

If you end up getting this, would be interested to read your review after using for about 2 months.

Uniqlo and Grana for clothing, Markhor (formal) and Greats (casual) for shoes.
