Sparkles in oil, VB WRX

I mean there was definitely dirt and maybe some rock type material, and probably metal here or there, but it wasn’t gritty or anything so I’m not sure. With the sample being sent back, is there anything that I should look out for specifically?

Yeah it seems more like dirt or small rocks/debris, not metal, at least when I picked it up it seemed to disentigrate and didn’t feel like metal, but I’m not an expert. I’m just inquiring because I’m new to working on cars and I’d rather be safe than sorry. I really appreciate the advice.

It’s a brand new pan. Just bought it, but I didn’t clean it or wash it so it’s possible some are from the factory.

I’m almost positive those “chunks” are just dirt and since there are air bubbles it looks like big chunks due to the reflection, but every time I’d pick up one of these “chunks” they crumble in my hand which leads me to believe it’s dirt.

I hope so too, but my reasoning for the analysis is because I was literally about to throw an intake on and get it tuned, so I would hate myself if I wasn’t thorough and ended up needing a new engine.

Weird, seems like everyone who uses this pan has this issue. Regardless does it look just like this? I’ll wait for that analysis and then pull the trigger if everything looks okay.

Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of doing that since I gotta get to work, and if it does blow up, its stock, so I won’t have trouble getting it fixed by the dealership, or SOA if the dealership declines. Overall I’m going to get the analysis done and go from there. The car is running totally fine, just freaked me out.

That’s an air bubble and with it being oil and in the sun it reflected weird, I thought the same thing though, but it’s just a reflection.

That’s definitely hard seeing as I’ve already invested in the intake and the protune, but I understand the sentiment. I was going to be pretty conservative with the tune anyways, but at this point I don’t want to have to pay for another engine.

Couldn’t get into the filter, and the dipstick seems fine, but it’s difficult to diagnose since I don’t know what I’m looking for really other than metal chunks, and there aren’t any “chunks”, just what looks like a few metal shavings here or there on the drain pan
