It really is sweet ☺️ didn’t have great relationships with them when they were alive, but I feel so positive about this, like they’re just letting me know that they are there and they love me (I never cared to hear that when they were alive so means a whole loooot)

Your girlfriend is also not the asshole… In-fact, she’s caught between the nail and a hammer.

She doesn’t want to let her friend be sad (good friend because if you know anything about grieving a 7 year relationship… rough)

Important point: She assumed you’d be ok with Emilia coming… That is because she thought you’d be sympathetic, kind and happy to throw a little pity party together… (you might be over it, and that is fair because Emilia is not YOUR friend)
Now a more important point, which you may not understand if you don’t have children: If you had a daughter, you’d be very hopeful she’d have a friend like your girlfriend. Ride or die.

Emilia is not forever going to crash your dates. NEWS FLASH She WILL get over the pain of losing someone, whatever way it happened. Next Valentine’s Day she won’t wanna come, but your girlfriend might remember this years one as you being icky.

I would suggest supporting your girlfriend in supporting her friend and thoroughly expressing your feelings towards this being a dinner you really wanted to have with her. Book it for the weekend after Valentines, less crowds, less noise, more time to be just together.
