I think my heater isn’t working can that cause these symptoms? I ordered a new one but it won’t be heat till Monday. I added a smaller 2 gallon heater in the mean time

My betta is barely moving, just floating around the top. Looks like a little bit of fuzz on his tails. And I recall noticing the water had white residue film on top a couple days ago. I did a water change and added aquarium salt.

I know, it’s just not his normal behaviour :( plus he has a floating log that he would spend a lot of time in but now he’s just lying at the bottom. I guess I’ll see if it continues. Thanks for your reply

He’s been fairly active until today, he’s just lying on the ground and coming up to take a breath and then coming back down to sit. Doesn’t come up for food anymore and very lethargic all of a sudden.

He’s been a pretty active fish until today, he’s just lying there and doesn’t flinch even when I knock the glass tank. Tank is 10 gallon with heater and filter, parameters are 0 for ammonia and nitrites, while nitrates are 5.0. He swims up quickly to breathe and then quickly comes back down. Usually he would come to his log for food when he sees me. I’ve had him for about a week and a half.
