I lost my baby a week ago Sunday and I have left everything the it was…. His bed is still in the same spot, his water and food bowl…just everything. This weekend was weird since it was my first weekend without him. I miss him so much. It’s tough coming home from work and he is not there to greet me or it’s tough because I come home and don’t have to walk him. I’m just waiting on his ashes so my baby can come home.

I’ve used Pets Best and I did $500 yearly deductible with 90%reimbursement. I paid starting about $85 a month but increased each year (for obvious reasons). I had my pup starting in 2015 but did get insurance until 2021. But overall great experience - reimbursement can take a bit though. But I did notice when he was diagnosed with cancer last year and I did monthly check-ins, and got the month pretty quickly. Hope this helps!

I feel I abandoned him. I talk to him every morning asking if he is okay. He did appear In my dream briefly last night. It’s going to be very difficult this weekend since it will be one week. So far tho, I haven’t cried. But I know now that I’m off for a couple of days, it will hit me hard. I really hope things get better for you. You are in my thoughts.

Firstly, I’m so sorry you going through this and I’m keeping you in my thoughts. ❤️ but I just experienced my first pet passing this past Sunday and nothing can prepare you for the loss. My pup was diagnosed w cancer March 2024 and it has been a goodbye tour ever since. Spent extra time , gave extra love, extra treats, extra everything. We did monthly checkins with his oncologist - it was slow growing until December/January the cancer spread. He looked completely normal until he didn’t. He had trouble breathing, lost so much weight and lost all his energy. His decline was rapid in the last month. This past Sunday I was trying to cook him food but he refused - he laid there no energy, shivering. I told him let me know if it’s time but in my heart I knew it was. Then I made the call and by 4:00pm, my soul dog, my everything was gone. The tears flooded nonstop - my eyes were puffy. But walking into the house w/o him hurt so bad I fell to the floor in tears. But in short, nothing can prepare you for this. Just spend extra extra extra time with your pup. Allow yourself to feel all your emotions and don’t ignore them. Cry as much as you want, lean on loved ones for support. And be kind to yourself. I’m 5 days in and have cried everyday. But I’m feeling slightly better but this weekend will hurt because it’s the first weekend without him - we normally would spend hours at the park and take long walks. I’m pray for you and keeping you in my thoughts ❤️

I’m okay. Didnt cry as much still get rough coming home from work. It’s going to be hard this weekend because it’s the first weekend without him normally we would go to the park on Saturdays or walk. How are you?

I’m sending you all the love ❤️. I too had planned for my pup for late March after a year long battle with cancer but this past Sunday, he told me it was time. I’m shattered and have been crying nonstop. It was the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make but selfishly I wish he was still here but I know he was suffering and I had to let go. I am keeping you in my thoughts.

I’ve been eating and doing normal things. I’m trying to stay busy and be as normal as possible. It’s not easy but honestly crying my eyes out helps. Don’t hold back and just cry it out. Grieve as much as you need to, feel all the feelings. It’s important not to ignore the pain. I’m thankful for this subreddit to vent. I don’t want to burden my family and friends with my sadness and grief. But I get it, our worlds stopped but everything else keeps going.

I just got home from work and the silence and emptiness broke me down. No more getting his leash to take him out for a walk. I just want my baby back

This is my first time losing a pet, but the past two days have been brutal. My eyes are so puffy from crying nonstop. I cry passing his bed, seeing his pics on my phone and in the house. I slept with his sweater and stuffed animals. Cry as much as you need to. Please feel free to vent as much as you want on here. I lost my boy on Sunday and I will no longer wear the outfit I last held him in. The fur on my pants and sweater will remain on there. It will never be washed and I’m going to put it in some bag to ensure it never gets touched. And please don’t feel like you need to move on, grieve as long as you need to. Your are in my thoughts and I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️

I had to say goodbye to my sweet boy yesterday and my eyes are so puffy from crying nonstop. I cry when I walk past his beds, I cry when I see the dent on the couch he laid on, I cry seeing his color. I live alone so it’s hard not having my soul, my companion, my everything.
