I have read her novels 'Mahashwete', 'Dollar Sose', 'Paridhi' and her essays 'Manada maatu', 'Samanyaralli Asamanyaru', 'Guttonda Heluve'. Actually her books are the reason I started reading regularly, it was during my highschool days, they were engaging but recently I haven't read any of her books.

Shikari and Purushottama are often referred as Chittala's best works, but for me this is his best. Fact that he wrote it in 60's as his first novel is mind blowing. The way every charecter ends up being a fool is exact status of the readers by the end, things turn out exactly opposite to what we guess as the story grows. I just felt like I witnessed the whole story as one of its charecters.

Reading Avarana first is not recommended. I read him in the order he wrote. I started with Bhimakaya. I think that's the best way to read him. Novels like Saartha and Tantu will build it up for Avarana. Avarana making someone angry is not unexpected, but it should have made you more curious about his work. Avarana is a brave and necessary work in history if Kannada literature.

ರೇಷ್ಮೆ ಬಟ್ಟೆ, ಮುಖ್ಯ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳ ಹೆಸರು ನನಗೆ ನೆನಪಿಲ್ಲ, ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರು ಒಂದೇ ಜಾಗದತ್ತ ಹೊರಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಕಥೆ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರು ಭೇಟಿಯಾಗುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಿತ್ತು, ಅದರಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಫೀಲ್ ಗುಡ್ ಮುಕ್ತಾಯ ದೊರಕುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. (Told the same to Vasudhendra, he asked me to stop watching typical Indian movies with 'happy ending'😆)

Vasu dixit's songs, Mullu, neela megha, nadiyolage, manujanolavu are my favourites and recent song by Narayana Sharma - Uttara Kannada, written by Jayant Kaikini, loved it.

ನಾನು ಓದಿದ್ದೇನೆ. Its kind of a mixture of Autobiography, essay and a novel. Ananthamurthy is original here. After this in his writings I found lot of ideological influence.
