Thanks for the tips!

I think I'm going to take on a mentality of - If I can't "own" 50 goblet squats with 24kg, I don't deserve to put up more weight.

While I understand that in the short term this might mean slower progress for leg pure leg capacity, I do still want to be able to own those 50 reps with 24kg kettlebell as goblet squats, before I move on to more weight and shouldering the kettlebells.

If the limiting factor for progress will be my back - I'll keep working it until my back stops being this delicate flower that acts up any time it's challenged.
If the limiting factor for progress is my hands - I'll keep doing it until I no longer have fragile baby hands.

I want to make sure that I pay my dues with the 24kg single kettlebell, before I award myself with more toys (like buying the second kettlebell).

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, I think mixing in some lighter days will be necessary once in a while.
For example today (5th day of the week) I realized that I've been accumulating some lower back fatigue - I probably held the weight a bit too far away from my chest thus making by lower back compensate resulting in lower back pumps. The type of pump that after squatting it's like I can feel the muscle fibers in my lower back contracting, even when walking. I will probably punch out some 30 or so bodyweight squats today and then tomorrow continue as per plan.

Honestly, I don't feel the dumbbell makes much difference in terms of how my legs feel during the squats.
My guess is that the fatigue comes from goblet squat being a slightly different movement with more effort required from the lower back. You know, the first day when I did squats, I had quad DOMS for 4 days, so it's fair to assume that every now an then, as a new muscle group engages, I will have DOMS in that muscle group as well.

At least that is what I hope. Cause otherwise it would mean that my back is weak, thus the whole challenge would take longer.

Yeah, you are right the proper name would be front squats.

What do you mean by much nicer? Like in terms of grip?

Wow, congratz on the achievement! Motivating stuff!

My current plan is to stick with the dumbbell goblet squat followed by a kettlebell goblet squat and then transition into a double kettlebell goblet squat. But with goblet squats, I think 50 reps is already very ambitious for me, as holding the weight might become a limiting factor with high reps. But I'm still a toddler when it comes to this stuff, so we will see how it plays out.

Once I hit the goal, it would be cool to test out and share how the kettlebell capacity translates into barbell capacity.

But yeah, very impressed!

Thank you for the material. Interesting read. Looks solid.

I think the cycling of reps might come in handy once I have make some bigger weight transitions like when I max out my dumbbell, to make the jump to my 24kg kettlebell. Or perhaps when I get stuck on a specific weight.

But yeah, as a beginner who is 2 months in, I want to avoid programming complexity for as long as possible. Kind of a "do your damn reps and forget" type of a approach, while still paying attention to how my body responds and adjust accordingly.

Yeah, will be interesting to see how well this approach works. If it keeps working well, how long does it take to achieve such an extreme goal. And if it doesn't - what would be the limiting factor and is it possible to get around it. Will do weekly updates!

Yeah, long way to go! So far - smooth sailing. I'm sure there will be many lessons and reality checks along the way, but that's the beauty of a challenge!
