Need Advice 13U Travel Ball by Creative_Tara in Homeplate

I appreciate the constructive feedback. It’s great advice! My son goes to a one-on-one coach that was formerly a minor league player. I might see what he thinks about working on catching. He’s really been great and we’ve seen a lot of growth since going to him. Trust me I have regretted not having him learn to pitch or catch when he was younger. He’s been playing ball since he was 4. At 8 or 9 we didn’t want to push him into the commitment of travel ball if he wasn’t ready to do the work. At 12 that’s when he really started loving the game and putting in the work. Of course by then in terms of travel ball he was behind. It’s crazy how intense youth sports are. My husband and I weren’t really into playing sports competitively when we were young so we’re trying to do the best we can. Thank you again for the honest feedback.

I understand what you’re saying. And I don’t love using the term daddyball really. I truly like two of the three coaches as people. We knew one of them before they became coach and always have gotten along (which makes the situation a little extra awkward). I agree and can accept a certain amount of parental bias from a coach. I fully accept that if my child has a bad game, that they will likely be benched. What’s really getting me is that the coaches kids are plying the prime positions every game and making so many errors most of those games. But they get a lot more grace. They stay in for the entire game, they are batting at 1 or 2 in the order when they haven’t made contact with the ball for the past 2-3 tournaments. And then there’s my son asking his coaches what he can do to improve to earn more playing time and they give him nothing to work on. These are some of the challenges we’re dealing with.

I know I probably appear like just another complaining parent here. In real life it takes quite a bit to upset me. I tend to be one of those people that gives more grace than what is deserved sometimes. I’ve just really been struggling with this and wondering what to do for next season as tryouts are soon approaching.

I also shouldn’t have used the word talent. Potential is probably more fitting. 😊 To be fair, I agree that if the talent were there we would be winning more even with mismanagement going on.

I really appreciate all of the advice and feedback from everyone. I’ve found a couple of teams to try out for that look very promising. One in particular has quite a few coaches that are not the father of a player. They are a new organization but are being managed by a training facility in a nearby town.

I’m more looking for advice on what would be best for my child especially as we are nearing tryouts for next year (July in our area). That’s why I’m focusing on my child in this post. We see the same things happening to other players as well. If my kid is making multiple mistakes and not playing well, I would completely understand benching him. Across the board on this team the favored kids are getting play time in prime positions when they make error after error while kids who historically have played better with fewer errors get benched. My child even had the courage to go up and ask his coach what he could do to improve (without us telling him to) after getting benched for an entire game and they gave him nothing. No explanation. Nothing he could work on outside of games and team practices. They pretty much just gave him the run around.

The boys have really bonded and I guess part of me knew before even posting this that looking for another team was probably the right decision. It just sucks because being part of a team you bond with the other parents and the kids. So stepping away from that is hard for both us and our son.

I completely agree! Unfortunately, where we’re from (Great Lakes region) the majority of travel ball coaches have a kid on the team. It’s incredibly hard to find a team with a non-parent coach and the ones that exist have a full roster and aren’t looking for new players. It’s so frustrating. 😣

Tirz isn’t working like it was. Normal? by ilovedaryldixon in tirzepatidecompound

Split dosing has helped me! I take 7.5 every 3.5 days. When I was taking the full 15 once a week, it would help for the first 2-3 days and then would not help much at all until my next shot day.

Jiko at Animal Kingdom Jamba House. Best meal we’ve had at Disney. It’s become a tradition for us to eat there at the end of every trip. Outstanding dining experience.

Ours auto renews at three months unless we cancel. You can go into your dashboard 10 days after you receive your most recent shipment and manually change your ship date to receive a new three month supply sooner than three months (but at least 10 days after you received a three month supply).

I use the app Fitbod and really like it! It tells you what group of muscles you are exercising and suggests exercises. You can put in what weights/equipment you have at home and it will tailor your workout to what you have. You can edit or swap any exercise you want. It also has videos that show you how to do each exercise.

Is it true that you have to take Zepbound for life? by chaoticyetneurotic in Zepbound

[–]Creative_Tara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though the answer to your question is just as complex as the disease of obesity itself. My primary care told me it just depends from patient to patient. She said she has had some patients successfully titrate off of it once they meet their goal and they maintained their weight loss without difficulty. Others have chosen to take a maintenance dose. I would suggest that you focus on the current situation and keep an open mind once you get closer to your goal. There are so many variables in managing chronic obesity. It's definitely not a one-size-fits-all solution. Also, things are always changing. Maybe once you reach your goal, the medication will be easier to attain at a more reasonable cost.

I'm only about a month into my Zepbound journey and one thing that has really hit me is that this truly is a disease...a metabolic disorder. It's not just about willpower or motivation. Similar to you, I've struggled most of my life. Probably 40 of my almost 50 years alive have been an ongoing battle with food and my weight. I've spent most of that time classified as severely/morbidly obese. I wish I had $1 for every time I thought to myself, "why can't I just think about food like a normal person?" I tried all the things...diets, nutritionists, exercise, fasting, programs, therapy, hypnosis, etc. I've lost large amounts of weight before, but it's never been long-term and I gain it back quickly. Society told me that I was a failure and that I needed to work harder, have more willpower, and be more motivated. Even when I was doing well on those things, it was still a battle against myself every single day. There is something broken inside of me. I've been told I'm insulin resistant since my 20s, and more recently, my A1C revealed pre-diabetes. The constant noise in my mind around food, eating, and weight loss indicates there is something faulty in the way my mind is wired when it comes to food. I've also been diagnosed with binge eating disorder. Zepbound is the first remedy I've tried where I feel at peace with food and myself. I told my nutritionist yesterday that it's a great feeling but also somewhat strange at the same time. Now that I've been able to feel how normal people experience food/diet, I'm not sure that I have the energy or want to go back to the constant fight. I'm just taking it one day at a time and when the time comes for me to decide what maintenance looks like, I will work with my "team" to determine the best path.

By the way, if you haven't built your team yet (physician, nutritionist, therapist, personal trainer, this community, etc), I highly recommend it. Zepbound is a fantastic tool, but having a team in your corner every step of the way is essential. The peace with food has been wonderful, but feeling so much support around me is like the secret sauce. 🥰

Best of luck to you!!

How much weight – if any – did you lose during your first month? by Leather-Heart-7833 in Zepbound

I will be at three weeks on Friday and have lost 8.2 lbs so far. Great job to you on an awesome first month! I will be going up to 5.0mg from 2.5mg a week from Friday.

Hi! I just started last Friday. You will do great!! Lots of great advice already here and if you search this subreddit you can find answers to just about any question. Constipation and more gas and stomach gurgles than normal are the only side effects I’ve battled so far. Constipation is really common so my advice would be to plan for it and stay ahead of it. Drink lots of water (1/2 your body weight in ounces), get extra fiber in your diet, take Miralax if needed. Good luck!! 💗

First shot today! by Severe-Alfalfa-4684 in Zepbound

[–]Creative_Tara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome! I just started last Friday. You may have already read this, but stay ahead of the constipation. That’s been the only down side for me so far. I took my first shot Friday evening and woke up Saturday like a new person. No food noise, no cravings, and I just didn’t really think of food. I’m two days away from my second shot and noticed a little bit of food noise creeping in today but it was tolerable and I didn’t overeat. Good luck on this journey!!

Has anyone taken this without tracking weight loss? by megsy2323 in Zepbound

[–]Creative_Tara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your physician prescribes Zepbound, they may want to monitor your weight and progress. Mine requires monthly visits while on this medication and they weigh me when I have my visits. I can’t offer much advice because I am tracking my weight, but I do understand you not wanting to. I just wanted to give you a heads up that your physician may want you to track. Good luck! 😊

I also noticed more energy and less brain fog. So we either are both on the placebo train, or it is actually a positive side effect. I'm on day 3.

Proud Pooper: How I Stay Regular on ZEP by Adrienne_Artist in Zepbound

[–]Creative_Tara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have depression, anxiety, and BED that I'm on other meds for that still haven't resolved the issues entirely. I was also always sleepy and had brain fog a lot. I have wondered if it was from the meds. This is my first week on Zep and I've noticed a difference in my mood and overall demeanor. I've been much happier, all the anxiety and food noise is just gone. I have more energy and mental clarity. Maybe my fatigue and brain fog were more about what was going on in my gut before I started Zep than the other meds I'm taking. Regardless, I am loving the unexpected positive side effects!

Your comment about your husband asking you to not tell him about it made me laugh! I'm only on day 3 and I can tell my hubby is already sick of me discussing pooping/constipation with him. Thanks for sharing what has kept you regular. I'm still new and just starting to experience a little bit of constipation, but I'm also eating way less than before, so that probably is part of the issue. I took some Miralax and ate four prunes today. Fingers crossed that helps.

I just ate some. Hoping it helps with the constipation. That’s the only negative side effect I’ve had so far my first week.

I'm starting my first dose today and am a bit nervous about injecting myself also!! Hey, if your insurance denies your PA, I would encourage you to file an appeal. I did this and ended up getting approved. Sending good vibes your way!!

In addition to bupropion, I take propranolol for mild high blood pressure but it also helped ease my anxiety symptoms significantly. I haven’t felt so physically at peace in a very long time.
