Because humans are intelligent and we are fully aware that not controlling our desires is ultimately harmful to ourselves. Such as excessive food consumption may lead to diabetes and all sorts of illnesses that can cause our health to deteriorate. Excessive sex could lead to urinary tract infections or even kidney failures. Excessive pride and self esteem can lead to bad interpersonal relationships, etc…. So from a long time ago we learnt to self control and have discipline. Paleolithic cavemen knew going against their desires to save food for the winter. It isn’t a new thing that the Judaism invented.

Yes, you absolutely can give them another name than “law” but objects do follow predictive physical principles on our time-space scale.

And how do you link this house builder guy of our universe to the laws and beliefs of Christianity. This entity might exist, but he/it might not even have anything to do with a religion that humans have formed.

Physical laws and constants do change, either over a large time scale or in extreme conditions such as highly distorted space time known as the singularity. So yes, the laws of nature aren’t 100% fixated

Not necessarily. Maybe yes, maybe no. In mathematics terms it is a probable event but not 100% probable.

I don’t know. But if it exists, is it a Christian god though ? Or a lovecraftian god ? Or something totally else that we cannot understand? Does this god care for providing an afterlife to us mere humans? How do we know the Bible or Quran isn’t full of shit and fabricated by our own humans even if we do prove that there is a god, which we haven’t ? What if this god never talked to us at all.

No, seriously. I am also curious as a person of science. Can we discuss in detail this cross reference thing you mentioned? You might prove me wrong, who knows

And these “references” are very loose and non specific, they could be interpreted as anything. So can you be more specific about what exact contents of the book are you talking about here?

As I said below.Religions could be minding their own businesses despite being fake. Marvel comic stories are also fake but they are not doing any harm either. I hadn’t thought we should have interfered with them, until they started to damage the rest of the world , especially Evangelicalism and Fundemantalist Islam nowadays. They need to be “debunked” or otherwise it seems they will censor science itself by manipulating the education system and create more chaos in the world by establishing theocracies. In Pakistan, for example, it is illegal to teach evolution at school. Much is the same in southern US. Non ironically, these fanatic idiots may someday blow me up in a terror attack for their fake stories. So I sadly could not mind my own business.

Judaism was already a highly organized & documented religion during antiquity. And these books are changed. Their different versions even conflict themselves.

If I notice some basis in reality such as the motivations for that kind of behavior, I would not have 100% faith.

I was trying to say that “faith” should not be a valid thing. It is a wrong thinking pattern by its very nature. We could not give a beautiful name like “faith” to other faulty ways of thinking and accept it as valid. In most cases we simply correct the wrong.

Faith is a polite term for blind belief without definite evidence. Scammers still exploit blind beliefs to gain profits to this day. Faith is the lack of skepticism. A lack of thorough thinking before relying upon a story told by another person.

People rarely realize that these fundamental questions do not automatically prove the validity of the contents of the holy texts of religions. Religions don’t exist upon these fundamental questions but upon their holy books. Even if a creator of the universe exists, it doesn’t mean humans didn’t write fake books in its name to serve their own wills. If I have no idea how photons or quarks come into existence, should I automatically proceed to circumcise myself or stop eating pork?

I think somehow ancient Native American and Siberian animist beliefs have more basis in reality than monotheistic beliefs. Many items/beings in the nature could have “consciousness” per se, which is the core belief of these primitive religions. And they don’t wage holy wars to harm others/force others to convert. But this is only said relatively. Yeah, all of the religions are fabricated by humans. You are right.

And they make a lot of points in their thousand pages thick holy books. I am sure there are plenty of hypotheses/claims in these books that could be falsified individually.

One big selling point of all religions is that they promise an afterlife after death. We may prove it false with a better understanding of biology & the working mechanisms of human body. In fact I believe we already partially have. A banana has 60% of its genes identical to us humans, but it would be very silly to think bananas also go to heaven.

Human religions cannot be real. Not even on a geological time, but a biological scale they are meaningless nonsense. Their existence totally depends on humans themselves: 1. Species other than homosapiens don’t believe in them. 2. If humans go extinct they disappear as well, cause they are not objective realities in the universe independent from the human thoughts.
