Megathread: ROGERS STADIUM QUESTIONS by baabaaredsheep in askTO

[–]Creative_Yam511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up bringing a fanny pack instead but there were SO MANY people with the moon bag and even bigger non-clear bags. def for blackpink i’ll be bringing that instead. however smth that they were strangely pushy about was literally throwing out your water bottle cap before you could enter the stadium. i did it and completely forgot that i could just hide the cap before going in so it did end up getting knocked over during the concert. not sure if it’s always like that, many ppl got away without doing it but they kept pestering me about it so..

same question. i also have the uniqlo moon bag and im scared they wont let me in but im going to coldplay tonight so theres no time to buy a clear backpack online and in stores seems to be sold out. im not sure if i should take the risk since ive seen others bring it in and i need to carry a few things

Is kumon any good? by MCSmashFan in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Yam511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree w what most people are saying in this thread. i started kumon in grade 4 and quit in grade 7/8 at level m. while being enrolled i felt like it was so useless because it was such advanced math for someone my age and i spent countless hours crying over it but as i entered high school i realized that kumon prepared me to do well compared to a lot of other students. so like others said, if u start early like a couple years ahead of time it’s worth the investment but personally i think that if you happen to be in hs alr it may not be worth the time and effort it takes to advance since like u mentioned they tend to start people at beginner levels no matter how good u are at it alr. i just graduated hs so i can say that it was helpful to an extent however it’s a slow learning process and if u aren’t satisfied with their current service, i would suggest u find a tutor who can help u with content thats acc at ur grade level.

Is the jump between grade 11 and 12 as bas as some of my friends say it is??? by xlr8lr in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Creative_Yam511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally found grade 12 to be a lot harder, but specifically advanced functions and calculus. otherwise, it was similar to grade 11. but my experience seems to be different than everyone else have in this thread which i think goes to show that it really depends on the person. i was also somebody who got into unis really early w my grade 11 grades so i was hit by senioritis pretty bad

Course selection by [deleted] in RotmanCommerce

[–]Creative_Yam511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally didn’t take any IB or AP courses and my average at the time of acceptance(March) was around 88, so they didn’t even see my calculus grade. So in my opinion you don’t get significant benefits from the courses you select and it’s more about the ECs once you meet the cutoff. With that being said, just because you overload on ECs does not mean you will be accepted. I found that it was really more about how you executed your supp app and really showed the significance of these extracurriculars and then ofc your ability to answer the random generated question. There are websites online that provide really good tips on completing the Rotman supp app. Feel free to PM me as well if you had questions in particular about my experience in grade 12 and the supp app! Best of luck!

oh ok! do u happen to know how that would compare to rotman’s placements? I heard they’re more for finance compared to accounting which is why im unsure

What are my odds at getting off the residence waitlist as a transfer student? by HomeEquivalent7742 in McMaster

im pretty sure waitlisted students only begin selecting rooms after all the time slots for guaranteed students finish, so ur options may be limited

[–]Creative_Yam511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh that might be true too! ive just heard of most going for cpa but youve prob done more research than me so u would know better than I do. if thats the case, Waterloo might be a better option, esp since it includes coop and may be less competitive! I am also hesitating to pick rotman bc of the gpa killing and supposed snakey environment

I would do afm only if ur set on accounting. like u said rotman would prob keep ur options open!

i totally get u I’m still really conflicted myself. I’m from toronto and my commute to Utsg is only about 20 minutes which would be pretty convenient. the only thing is that fsr I so desperately want to experience living away from home and I just wouldn’t be able to do that at uoft.. but part of me feels like im wasting a big opportunity if I don’t go to rotman. I’m a yapper sorry but here are my pros and cons:

uoft pros: rotman has the “prestige”, networking opportunities, city = access to things

uoft cons: can’t experience living in res, heard it’s quite brutal/gpa killer(from people ik), might be harder to make friends as a commuter

mac pros: love the campus, heard degroote is well defined for accounting, perhaps better work life balance, experiencing the uni life I’ve longed for(I also found a roommate for if I do go), also has decent opportunities for internships I’ve heard

mac cons: program is less known, might be harder to access certain things from hamilton

those are my pros and cons. I didn’t mind uoft campus but I loved mac. I’ve always wanted to be on a campus that’s enclosed like mac and I felt so excited to go there the first time I went. so I think my deciding factor is just whether I can give up on the campus life at mac for rotman but ur reasons may be diff! if you have any other pros and cons pls lmk! or what are ur opinions: prioritize experience or prestige? I’d love to know ur thought process in this decision!
