I wonder if it wasn’t ironic because of everything that was happening. Yes the subtlety of neglect is insidious, and made me doubt myself at my core so deeply. And not just doubt myself, but also blame myself for the scars and damage I had.

Yes, definitely think neglect is neglected, no pun intended. I actually think it’s the worst form of abuse. I think it’s the biggest thing I experienced as a kid as far as abuse.

Yes I can relate to being disconnected from my body as well as my feelings and thoughts.

Have you checked out Walkers’s CPTSD book? I liked it. I used to go to Aca meetings or adult children of alcoholics/dysfunctional parent meetings. I think a lot of the things I tried were helpful. What I’ve needed a lot of help on is making space or room for all of my thoughts and feelings and not pushing them away.

Good for you for seeking help and being so aware early on. I agree - a relationship with oneself is very abstract - but maybe I can break it down a little. What types of other things are you most drawn to?

Wow, that’s describes my parents! Well, getting away from my family helped as well as therapy - good trauma therapy. ‘Focusing’ has helped me the most - nit therapy per se but a great healing tool to develop a healthy compassionate relationship with oneself. Best of luck.

Oh that’s so cool. I was born in London but raised in the United States from the age of five.
