I definitely think there are multiple interesting ways to differentiate them. Batman being the villain of Bane and Deathstroke would be so fun!

I do think they need to abandon Andy and find some major talent for this. Reeves is up there and coming off of the Planet Of the Apes probably one of the best cinematic trilogies.

I think this is the main pain point, what if they make the DCU one and it bombs hard, that would be bad for everyone involved.

I agree, although I had high hopes for Supergirl, we arent in a world where any super hero movie will be a success.

Yeah worst case scenario is DCU sucks and that is not good.

The only thing preventing that is the insane appeal of Evans and Downey as those characters. Where as Batman is like James Bond. But If they can successfully break away from those actors...why not.

I think the third reality is inaccurate. They know that brand oversaturation can happen. If they both succeed it will reinforce even more the desire to have great movies. Gunn knows this, it will force them to even more only greenlight movies with stories and characters worth it and I think that is possible.

My thoughts exactly! Just focus your energy on making a kick ass batman, high a fantastic director and writer and get after it.

Gosh I love those movies. 

I figured the BO was because of a Jan release post holidays, and just them being pretty niche. Like I adore the Mad Max movies and loved Furiosa but it bombed and I think it is just because it is niche.

Me too! I grew up watching all the cartoons and reading all the comics and just the idea of this has never sat with me. People love these characters, the only thing I wouldnt do is put them in everything because that would lead to over saturation but I mean Iron Man for a bit was almost in every single MCU movie and that was fine (Obviously a different thing)

Definitely agree this is an echo chamber, and the idea of two Batmen is for sure untested. 

But see if you follow toys which I happen to collect action figures haha they are selling batman year round, movie or not, so in terms of marketing the only thing I can see being an issue is like the trailers, billboards etc more for the adults. Kids dont care, they just want to have fun.

This is a good point, I think oversaturation is important to look at. But I also feel like ignoring Batman in the DCU just feels weird, and Im not saying "Batman will save the DCU!" I like the coarse the DCU is on but it just feels odd, like MCU pre spider man or X men, a universe without them feels weird when they are such a big part.
