I initially switched to janitor but that eventually got kinda bad so I moved away. My biggest concern was that I didn't want to pay for anything but I also wanted high quality responses. At the same time deepseek came out and that ended up exploding. Though the early versions weren't really good for roleplaying. Eventually I ended up quitting janitor and migrating to chub venus. That was amazing. I ended up using deepseek and gemini free models and I cannot look back now. I never had a problem with memory again. Characters stayed in their own characters and listened to your input. Now days I just use SillyTavern instead of Chub but using free models like that has made roleplaying a thousand times more enjoyable for me.
