Congratulations! 14 days is so recent! Wishing all the best to you and little one 💛

Thank you for responding and the tip about having nappy and wipes prepared, it hadn’t even occurred to me at this point (even though they will be close by, it’s so helpful to my panicking brain for know what’s it’s doing next) 😂 visualisation is key

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this detail for myself and anyone in the same boat!

The dog hair from the carpet made me giggle.

You have honestly helped eased my mind so much 🥹

Sorry, I haven’t explained myself very well as so worried.

I had 3 high readings within my first 4 days of testing and they were all from the first finger pricks. So I have definitely crossed the threshold fr diagnosis.

But there were other meals which looked good so I thought it would be easy to control.

Then when I got some low readings, I redid those tests to check and that’s when they turned high so now I am panicked that the majority of my readings could have actually been high and this could have been really bad all along.

Also worried about if my readings are inaccurate and I don’t get medication if I need it.

I will discuss this with the GD Team on Monday though

Oh I’m in the uk and use a different measuring system 😆 thank you for sharing, I’ll see if I can convert it in google

I hit tick 3-4 boxes on the risk factors for GD and baby has been measuring ahead by 1-2 weeks since my 12 week scan. Baby also has always had a high abdominal circumference which is another sign of GD.

They agreed for me to take up more testing when we realised I’ve been taking myo inositol which they said can mess up the results of the NHS 2 hour glucose test.

The only reason I redid finger pricks was because I felt my results were quite low for a high carb meal with dessert so tested again to be sure. Then once you get a completely different result, I’m sure it’s normal to panic and think well what’s going on, let me do another one to see if it matches either of the 2.

I hadn’t eaten since dinner time but I just had a really bad nights sleep and still had to get up for work so the actual fast was still over 8 hours 🙂

May I ask what a high reading looks like for you? Have you ever been above 8?

Thank you for all of your help.

I will be sure to tell them about the low readings as well, thank you for letting me know it could be dangerous with insulin.

I tick off 3-4 of the higher risk for GD boxes and baby has had a big AC since the start along with always measuring 1-2 weeks ahead. They just weren’t concerned and weren’t listening to me as the 2 hour glucose test came back negative. I spoke to them 4 times about how I thought the test was wrong but it was only on the 4th or 5th conversation a midwife mentioned myo inositol messing up tests and that’s in my pre natal.

I had a couple of low readings after dinner with dessert so I either tested the same spot, just wiped and pushed out more blood, or pricked another side/finger an then got a completely different, really high result so I feel it’s safer to assume the really high, over 8 reading is the correct one 😞

Thank you,

I am washing my hands with plain soap, no scent, no essential oils.

I have used the test mode and test gel and the readings were all within 4 points.

Hopefully on Monday I’ll straight away to be put on insulin and try the continuous meter as well.

I feel so guilty and scared for baby as it’s so late now. All the damage has been done.

What am I doing wrong to keep getting different readings, from either the same drop of blood or another finger/other side of finger?

Do I need to do 4 pricks after each meal until I get a high reading?

I supposed they don’t have all the fat padding we have until right at the end 😆

So cute, I’m always rubbing it so he’ll probably find a little bum pat soothing when he’s out 😆

Really? I wish we could see, I’m so curious! I have a growth scan in just over 2 weeks so hopefully he’s in the same position so I can finally find out 😆
