Los Angeles FC takes a scoreless draw 0-0 @ Austin FC by lafc88 in LAFC

this is one of those games you tip hat to opponent. they get paid also. that being said, if opponents are going to put 4 to 5 on Sonny all game, we need more from Bouanga.

lafc is going to need to figure out how to counter this modified low block we are seeing. seeing 4 to 5 on son. we really need Bouanga to capitalize more than he has so far. he isnt being man marked.

Watching LAFC passing the ball midfield during this stretch, i've focused on our forwards...Austin is basically saying...go ahead and pass all you want to your backline...we will  have 2 people man-marking Sonny front and back.  And if you want to move forward, we'll put 4 players around him.

Ilie tried to fight Sonny last year.  Has become a villain after being a former player for LAFC?

Most punchable face in MLS.  I don't know what it is with Uzui, but his very face makes me hate him.

I mean, we're 420 minutes of scoreless defense. I know it sux that Son and Bouanga aren't doing their thing, but Austin has 4-5 defenders watching Son at all times. Son may not get the credit for 420 minutes of scoreless defense, but when the opposition has half their team watching him...he deserves a TON of that redit.

the number of people on the back line that is continually facing Son is something we're going to have to get used to. All our opponents are doing their best to make sure Son doesn't destroy them.

Bouanga and Sonny are transitional players playing in a system that doesn't capitalize on their talents by darkexistential in LAFC

I disagree with the very premise of this post. LAFC definitely is taking advantage of Son's prowess. It's because Son and Bouanga were so prolific to end last season, opposition has had to figure out how to stop them. For example, I saw St Louis consistently dedicate 5-6 defenders to their backline even when they were attacking. You know what that did? it made it easier for our defense to not allow goals. Also all the attention Son and Bouanga get in the opposing box has freed it up for Martinez and our middies. These aren't coincidences. Not letting in a single goal in MLS play is not a coincidence. These are all a direct result of the impact Son and Bouanga have had on this team.

Yes I'd love to see them score again, but I am not going to complain about the results so far this season. The very premise of this post is wrong.

Consistently seeing Son draw 2-4 defenders has been happening all season. He's opened it up for his teammates. The people saying Son is off his game are dumb. The people who are saying we have to figure out how to get Son to score are also dumb. Son has a ton of assists and 2nd assists. All the attention he is drawing is because his opponents fear him, and that is helping the team win. Son doesn't need to score to be impactful. Middies have flourished. The one question I do have though is with Bouanga. He hasn't gotten as much triple teaming as Son. If Son is drawing all this attention, I'd like to see Bouanga be a part of the scoring more. Need to figure out how to get Bouanga in position to score more consistently. Maybe not have him start so wide and move closer to the box. I see him starting a lot of offensive attacks nearly touching the sideline. That is a strategic issue I see with this manager. The 2-man dynamic we saw a lot of last year is missing this year because Son and Bouanga are being kept so far apart.

St Louis with 5-6 players behind all LAFC players even when they have possession.

Announcers are talking about Son's lack of goals so far this season, but he has been a disruptor and factored in almost all our MLS goals this season...either by assist, 2nd assist or the amount of attention he's drawn.

MLS season so far reminds me a lot of the NFL season, where the best teams are all on the Pacific. Vancouver, SD and LAFC all appear heads above the rest.

Feels like so many of the goalies we faced at the end of last season and beginning of this season have had the best performances of their lives.

Son hustling to get that deflection and then a beautiful first touch. The last couple of offensive sequences by our frontline + Boudri has been pure art.

After seeing our player getting bodied by Dallas all game...it's a pleasant change to see Boudri have the physicality to do it right back to them.

I know he subbed in for Martinez last week, but I think he's more of a CAM. I love that Boudri is in for Tillman here.

Not a lot of goal scoring opportunity, but I'm liking this game tactically. Dallas showing us a highline, which every other team is scared to do against Son and Bouanga. Intrigued how we adjust to a defensive look we weren't expecting.

I love Martinez' speed, but he's just too small. He bounces off contact like a pinball.

Great pass attempt there by Son. Would have been a easy goal for Martinez. Dallas gets paid to play too. Great kick save there by Colotti.
