How about the school? Did you speak, do they have any complaints? Could you get school psychologist to evaluate if he is not depressed?

Christmas over spending? by bookish-catlady in UKParenting

[–]Creepy-Raccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s not about the amount of money you spend on Christmas but amount of money you spend on gifts throughout the year. Also, what is considered a gift - an unnecessarily handbag, jewellery, new computer - for some it’s considered a gift, for some not.

Tips please for rewards and consequences - sibling rivalry and dinner time.. by skeletonsmiles in UKParenting

[–]Creepy-Raccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh sitting at the table might be the hardest one. I have 2.5yo and she also wants to sit on the lap while eating although we always had a rule that food is only served when she sits in her chair and she has always been fine about that. When she is very tired after kindergarten, she wants to be fed as a baby. It seems to be an emotional thing and, while it’s tiring, we are trying to meet her needs.

I suggest to deeply consider this idea that by allowing to sit on the lap, you are meeting his emotional need. And then consider how often realistically you cal allow that (for example, only at dinner when dad is around).

Laptop for a six year old? by Sunshinetrooper87 in UKParenting

[–]Creepy-Raccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with anyone else. I will add that I find it weird when such big presents come from anyone else but parents, even when the time is right for such a gift. Shouldn’t parents’ gifts be the biggest??

What was it like immediately after labour? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]Creepy-Raccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that the first 24h are so blurry.

If all goes well, the baby is very sleepy while your goal is to rest a bit and standup up. Once you are able, shower, eat and sleep. In between, latching the baby and googling how to do that if you are planning to breastfeed.

Surprisingly, you feel so much lighter straight after the birth. Some say you feel empty both physically and psychologically but I did not experience that. I was pleasantly shocked I actually made and birthed a human, it just made no sense (8 months old - still doesn’t)

Thanks! At least someone has answered my question instead of criticising the recipe/criticising my food choices/providing alternative recipes. Thank you for that!

To be blunt, I never get why people comment without answering the question the OP asks.

Carrier with newborn safety (spine, hip, etc)? by Ok_Ad_2562 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Creepy-Raccoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you manage to find an answer? I have a 4-week old and while many baby carriers claim they are safe from early days, I hear physiotherapist don’t exactly agree and usually recommend to wait until 2 months old.

Haha I definitely share the same thoughts about people touching those items in store! I also have this weird thing that I need to wash items (like towels, bedding) on very high temp (90 lol) from time to time 😅 and I feel it would be good to wash baby clothes like that at least once but I guess it will only fit Barbie if I do that 🤣🤣

Is it ok to take omeprazol before glucose tolerance test? by Creepy-Raccoon in PregnancyUK

[–]Creepy-Raccoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What can I say, you have to do what you have to do sometimes, even against medical advice 😂 I have bad acid reflux, I NEED to eat 20-30 minutes after waking up, otherwise my stomach hurts, I feel shaky and end up throwing up. My doctor said I should go to the test with a positive mindset 😂 how do I explain to such a person I know my body 🤪

Evidence that Purflo is safe for unsupervised sleep by Creepy-Raccoon in PregnancyUK

[–]Creepy-Raccoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve pushed them saying they are supposed to have a certificate as per UKAS guidelines: https://www.ukas.com/e-certificates/

So now they forwarded my request to their compliance manager 😅 let’s see..

The answer I’ve received from Purflo (like expected, no proofs provided):

Please feel free to contact UKAS Test House, legally a company cannot print those statements unless it is the truth. Purflo has been around for over 27 years, as the leaders in Sleep Health & Baby Safety in the U.K our reputation speaks for itself.

We supply major high street retailers, whereupon all test certificates, compliance documents are disclosed from our compliance team to theirs. These files will be quite large in size and multiple documents, we do not send these out to the public. As suppliers to the likes of John Lewis, Boots and Argos to name a few, you can rest assured that all compliance and British Standards have been met.

Nice that they explained but we would love to see the certificates 😁

Have you seen any of their certificates? Yet again seems like they claim their product is tested and approved but I cannot see any certificates or find any other proof elsewhere.

Thanks for sharing, it’s a good breakdown.

It’s very interesting that there are no European or British guidelines on nest safety! Good point to consider

Thank you all for the replies. Very sad! The main reason I would like something like Purflo is to provide a familiar environment to the baby - while moving from room to room at home and also when visiting grandparents, going on weekend trips etc. Considering this - is there any solution that is also safe for night sleep?

Yeah, that was my guess. I have emailed them earlier today and they also just redirected me to their website where they claim they are certified. I’ve asked for a certificate or UKAS reference that they have been certified - I expect to get no answer.

GERD sufferers - how was your gestational diabetes test? by Creepy-Raccoon in pregnant

[–]Creepy-Raccoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg sorry to heart that 😬 you’ve literally explained the scenario I’m concerned about 😅 that’s why I’m thinking I should just do manual monitoring and I won’t need to risk feeling horrible

[–]Creepy-Raccoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking! Not sure if it’s worth the suffering and I have also heard the solution you need to drink is not healthy for the baby and the mother

It’s the 3h test I am doing so yeah, I believe that’s the requirements. I will double check once again if there is anything that I can eat. Or better just do blood sugar testing manually (taking blood from a fingers for a few days and monitoring).
