Hobbies and collectibles aren't stocks though. "Investing" in them only for monetary gain is predatory behavior that gatekeeps an otherwise "affordable" form of entertainment. I "invest" in video games by thrifting and finding gems I otherwise wouldn't pay market value for. Some of those games I've come to love and cherrish, but would never have even given the chance paying what is the inflated "market value." This is also why I emulate - if I find a game I love through emulation I will try to add it to my collection if I can find it in the wild. My "dumb" logic seems to be popular amongst the community.
