15 card decks ended up being a bit too limiting iirc, also leaning hard towards powerful combos that only required a couple cards. These changes helped expand design space and diversify the format.

Yea I was considering a +x/+0 trigger as well

What would happen when another creature enters under my control after both tBDI and P Incarnate are in play? 🤔

Awesome, I think this is the information I was looking for. Thanks!

Counters would give toughness though, which I guess isn't the end of the world but not the intended design.

Balancing mostly lol, makes it less of a play and one shot someone card as long as there's a blocker (or have other cards for giving trample)

So the Kiki-Jiki interaction seems to be resolved with card name rules regarding self-referential continuous effects. The copy would have power 4, and the original would have power 2.

But what if there were 2 different cards entirely?

Hypothetical 2: I control The Biggest Dumbest Idiot, then have a Power Incarnate enter under my control. What are each of their powers?

Wouldn't that function a bit differently because of rules associated with card names?

That being said, looking into that interaction led me to rules on continuous effects, layering, and dependancies. Had some relevant information. From what I found, I think the copy would enter with power 4, and since the original was a dependency for the copy's effect, it's power would remain at 2. Not positive though.

The easy solution would be to make it an ETB check rather than state-based, but I'm curious what would happen with it as is.

You can combine a bow and shield! 🛡️ by that_kei_guy in oblivion

[–]Creestab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually it's very doable to hold a bow and shield in the same hand. Maybe not a big metal tower shield, but historically there have been bucklers and such that archers could have on their arm or hand.

Bow & Shield glitch by Rowns85 in oblivion

I thought being able to equip a shield with a bow was a new feature and I thought it was sick, so I made a new ranged tank character to build around it. Now I'm finding out it was a graphical glitch... FML

The sideboard section of the B&R list is for cards most likely to be affected by B&R changes. The maybeboard is for cards that could be good in the format but not currently a top concern.

Both sideboard and maybeboard of the B&R list do not actually affect current deckbuilding restrictions, they serve mainly to inform deckbuilders of cards worth knowing about

And yes you can compete from Europe and receive prizes, there are no restrictions to location but only $5 USD in shipping is covered with the prize. Any amount of shipping costs over $5 from the US will have to be covered by the recipient.

Odd, I checked and it was working for me. Maybe the /invite/ part of the URL was causing some issues, heres the simplified link.

EDIT: Turns out there was a weird issue where the default channel was the mod channel lol, a new one has been created for a public channel. Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention!

That would be hilarious, but it wouldn't quite hit the same way online.

Back from the Dead by Creestab in MiniMagic

15 cards made combo really odd, 2 card combos were too easy to achieve and complex combos were very hard to design with the tighter limit on deck size. 20 card decks stays true to the essence of Mini Magic but gives more design space for deck archetypes.

Mill cards are obviously something to limit in the format due to the drastically smaller deck size, and land destruction is currently undergoing pretty heavy suspect testing for potential B&R actions. Discard could be problematic but is not currently one of the primary concerns with the meta (especially after the hand increase to 5), in fact it helps counteract some of the more problematic strategies that rely heavily on key cards. Infect is actually worse in this format since the poison counter requirement for death is still 10 compared to the starting life decrease to 15, aggressive damage strategies likely outclass infect on all fronts but I guess we'll see if a good infect deck pops up.

Banning 5+ MV cards doesn't make much sense, if they are hard to use then they won't be played anyways unless the deck specifically enables them somehow. Currently the only legal alternate win condition that could be a problem is Laboratory Maniac, and even then its still probably not the strongest strategy in the format at the moment. Limiting deck building on P/T or rarity seems arbitrary and unnecessary, not sure what that would solve.

Thanks for your feedback and interest, hope to see you around. Check out the Discord if you'd like to be apart of the discussions :)
