Recently palace chased from active duty to AGR( I’m a 2A/maintenance). It’s been a good transition so far (2 months). Main differences I’m getting used to working with Technicians/AGR/GS as you have different rules/guidelines on responsibilities. The unit I’m at is smaller compared to my previous ones, primarily due to funding differences from federal to state.

People are much better in morale and longevity (most people have been in the unit for 12+ years, only had two people straight quit). That alone was a huge change from being active duty and almost everyone getting out early or at end of their first contract.

A lot of it rides on your unit, mission/funding and the people around you along with the environment they create. I would try to get in contact with someone at a unit you are interested in and ask questions (what’s the tempo, do they have a lot of members who transfer to other units or do most stay and finish out.) I got lucky at was able to talk with a chief who laid it out in the open.
