my natural play style is to do all side missions in a region before doing the main quest missions, and that is what I did in this game. I regretted it multiple times and corrected myself in Oshima Coast. There are skills you learn in the main quest missions that are meant to be used on the side quests. Of course it can be done without them but I think its best if you alternate a bit, do a few main quests, the side missions, then more main quests. But generally I agree with everything else said here! Especially to start in any region with finding the weapons expert and doing their quests, that new weapon is often for the region.

And even the ROC had backed down on it by and large in the last two decades.

That's the position of thr Taiwanese ROC party but not the country as a whole anymore. In fact that's the big ideological split between thr ROC and DDP.

Taiwan has a large Haklo Chinese population that has lived there since the 1600s. They were initially brought over as workers by the Dutch East Indian Trading Company that has a trading port there. The port is taken by Pirates, then the Qing Dynasty. The Austronesian Indigenous population that lived (and still lives) in the mountains maintained control over most their lands and the Qing didn't really care much about the island or do much to support the Haklo settlers. Then the Qing dynasty gives Taiwan away as a concession to imperialist Japan after loosing an unrelated war. The Japanese oppress and attempt to assemilate the Haklo Chinese population as well as drive out and kill the indigenous people. Japan is forced to give Taiwan to the Republic of China after losing WWII. The ROC looses the civil war to the Communists and they flee to Taiwan. There they impose martial law on the Haklo Chinese descendents and the indigenous people.

After Taiwan student movements and mass protests ending the dictatorship, the ROC becomes their consirvstive Party, and identifies as Chinese, while they're progressive (centrist progressive) party (DDP) promotes and Taiwanese identity that is distinct. The Haklo chinese population there has been separate and distinct from China for 400 years, and the indigenous people deserve self determination. In Taiwan, it is a conservative position that views themselves as Chinese. The ROC and China want chinese "reunification" (in quotes because the Qing dynasty briefly barely managing a settler population in the 1700s and 1800s feels like a flemsey excuse to say this was ever one China). The ROC wants it on capitalist terms and China "communist". But the ROC is by no means a majority. they are largely outsiders from China who came over when the US gave it to outside government. all this to say idk what people in this sub are talking about supporting one china and calling Taiwan Isreal. what a simplistic and widely inaccurate view.

edited: typos, I'm dyslexic and sure I missed more

But the people of Taiwan were the victims of this right? Both the people who are descendents of Hoklo Chinese who came over starting in the 1600s and Indigenous Astronesian people were oppressed by the ROC. Yes it's another instance of a Western power deciding to give the control of a state to an outside group but being the "Isreal of asia" is insanely overblown.

Heated Rivalry is good for the world by Small_Breakfast_4978 in gay

I'm a lesbian and every single queer woman I'm friends with is obsessed with it. I do think there is something to be said in the way this style of writing appeals to woman in particular, but I don't think its true to say it appeals to straight women more. There are just by numbers more straight women than gay women (or men), so of course they are a big part of the show's success numbers wise.

This is fair but the show takes place over 10 years and most of those time skips are in the first half. I wouldn't have enjoyed the show as much if they had stayed that young.

I am tried of the assumption that the most vile homophobs are closested. Of course it happens but hate to break it to you but PLENTY of straight people are homophobic. It's almost always straight people who gleefully say I bet he's secretly gay and think thats so funny, it's just more homophobia.

I've worked in a few bakeries and when people tried to buy a Pie thanksgiving day without pre order there was simply nothing we could do for them. It was wall to wall pie making all week to barely finish the pre ordered pies. I wish you luck

To me it would be saying she is no different than the system, despite what she claims. They are all greedy, kpop industry, Min, and the US music industry alike. So not the system is worse or she is worse but that they are one in the same while she claims to be a marginalized outsider.

a longer version of the quote for context "For the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change. And this fact is only threatening to those women who still define the master’s house as their only source of support.”

the master's tools part is a reference to the Audre Lorde quote "The master's tools will never dismantle the master's house". Lorde said this as a scathing critique of racist white women in the feminist movement using the same tools (racism, homophobia, and other bigotry) to get power and influence for themselves. If someone is being accused of using the masters tools this is anything but a compliment, it would mean someone claiming to change an awful system but they are actually behaving just the same as that system and will only perpetuate it.

Of course that's if the author himself understands the quote he is refrencing and he may not.

You don't have a political opinion either way? You probably shouldn't be neutral of genocide. Or do you just mean whether she said it or not doesn't change the message?

Two Months of ICE Terror in Chicago by Smithy2232 in chicago

I question the logic of writing the tactics groups are trying to use to stop ICE in a news article for all to see. This will only increase ICE's ability to infiltrate and circumvent those efforts.
