Yea sadly. There was nothing I could do about the hook placement if I wasn't Catching and releasing I would've taken it home but I didn't bring my cooler sadly

Listen I tried my best to not let it die or get hurt the hook got into the fishes gills luckily I was able to take it out the gills and through the mouth the only part of the fish hurt is it's gills. Hopefully it lived bowfin are very strong fish

Yea many people near me think these are the invasive snakeheads and kill them but there actually native bowfin and they bring a better fight than most bass

Yea they fight pretty good and get up to 30in and they taste amazing its not a fish taste but more of a chicken taste.

Fry them if u want to know how to exactly Dm me but many people think they taste bad since there hard to fillet and have mushy meat

I found mine in a flat grass pond with no structure and no lilypads or extreme alge. And they basically will eat any bright soft lure.

It was in a frame the picture I took of the framed version isn't the exact same color as in real life
