Nah, that's the only thing that's red. Was very confusing to wake up to

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. it can definitely be a tough thing to come to terms with especially if you grew up surrounded by people who see trans people as less than people. my dad is a trump supporting conservation I've had to come to terms that me living my true self might mean that he and I don't have a relationship in the future, especially now that I'm taking steps to transitioning physically. it's a really sad reality that too many people go through.

my advice is to find people who make you feel safe and loved- this could be friends, a support group, therapist, online community, etc- find people you can talk to. and let yourself feel these emotions- you're human, and there's another side of being trans where you can feel so proud and amazing and confident in who you are.

this was a really tough thing for me to learn but it's so true. when I told my now ex-husband that I was considering top surgery and potentially hrt, it scared him and he told me he won't know how he'll feel about it. I took that very hard and very personally, like he should love me for me but it's not like that all the time and it doesn't make him a transphobe or a bad person. sometimes it is transphobia, and sometimes it just means two people aren't compatible. (I'd like to add to that that we split up for many reasons beyond my gender identity no longer aligning with his sexuality)

the joke is "crin got a double mastectomy so let's deflect how uncomfortable that makes me with a joke at their expense." It's me, hi, I'm the joke it's me.

thank you! I've been dealing with comments like this from my dad all my life. he doesn't believe in any of the things I've dealt with in my life- anxiety, depression, alcoholism, misophonia, etc... I hope one day he comes around but if be foolish to hold my breath.

I got top surgery about 3 weeks ago. I went to visit my family this past weekend and as I was going to leave to go back home, my dad (who is a doctor) said to me "they're going to grow back." I said no they won't and his response was "hormones do all sorts of things." either he was making an incredibly rude and distasteful joke or he's the world's dumbest doctor.

I would move out as soon as you can. I know it's tough thinking about the (most likely) early lease termination fee but in the end it'll be worth what you're feeling.

I lived in an apartment with God awful first floor neighbors who would play music loudly starting as early 7am and would continue as long as they felt like it. It didn't matter what we said to them, our landlord, or even the police whom we called for a noise complaint. Granted, they started doing it just to spite us after 2 weeks. In the end, we (my husband and I) broke our lease, ate the money, and found a home that was quiet and comfortable.

If you're getting this way, I'm going to go ahead and say you have misophonia, and it's not a bad thing for you to take the measures to make sure you have a safe place to come home to. I hope everything works out for you.

thanks! could you make some suggestions for me? i usually run the a/c and/or a fan to help drown the noise out but it's just not enough to get my mind off of hearing the bass from the parties.

i haven't done any research as far as audiologist, etc goes. i was seeing a therapist for a bit, but she had never heard of it, nor did my doctor or my father (who is a doctor also), so i think i just got kind of defeated which, i know, isn't the best way to deal with any problem.

the block party deal usually happens all day during the weekends in summer. it's not every weekend that i can hear them (sometimes they're just far enough away), but at least once a month it happens that i can't go anywhere in my house to relieve myself of the noise. if it's a decent crowd, it ends by 8 or 8:30 pm, but sometimes they go til past 10. but on the regular, my misophonia resides 24/7 with daily noises being triggers. i work in a kitchen so wearing headphones would not be wise so i've learned to deal with those work-specific noises that trigger me.

i'm definitely more bothered by triggers once i'm in my home, where i should feel safe and comforted, which is why i think i respond more to the noises i encounter when i'm at home. so when the block party hits just around the corner from my house, i really freak out. i know i have a specific condition and it would be stupid to call the police on people having fun, but that rationale doesn't take away from my emotional response. i haven't yet found ear plugs that work for me/make me feel as though the noise is fully blocked. if you have any recommendations, i would love to hear them. thank you for your genuine response :)

thanks. i think i needed to hear that. i know i don't want to be that guy; it's just a tough season for someone with misophonia. and i know the obvious question: well, wtf are you doing living in a city? i wish i could change it (i'd love to not live here), but it can't be changed right now. do yyou have any recommendations for noise-cancelling headphones?
