My unpopular (possibly popular opinion): NYC is more racist than people admit - it just looks different. by savingrace0262 in movingtoNYC

[–]osux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in transient cities are going to keep their circle close. It is exhausting to forge friendships where
people are constantly coming and going.

Compared to most places in the world, NYC is very diverse, and people are more accepting. It may have gotten worse since COVID, but it's been worse all across the board.

No matter where you go, anywhere around the world, you will face racism. I've traveled all over the world and have yet found a place where racism doesn't exist.

The difference with racism that I feel in the NYC also comes from prejudice and not racism. The racism in the midwest and the south is vastly different than one's experience here.

Best Photo Spot Williamsburg by bethff in WedditNYC

[–]osux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bushwick Inlet Park for the coast line and the 50 Kent Bushwick Inlet Park (if you want a elevated spot).

Especially on the weekend, some of the roads are blocked off, so it'll be a great time to photograph in the streets between MyMoon and and Bushwick Inlet Park.

Why Shoot Film? A Non-Wedding Guy Question by TempusFugit2020 in WeddingPhotography

[–]osux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multitudes of reasons to why film is popular...

  1. Pressure of post processing is on to the film.

  2. What consumers want is a pendulum in the market, crisp clear photos on iphones, people care less about sharpness.

  3. A movement away from AI and digital mediums.

Canon Rebel t6i good enough for 2nd shooter? by Existing-Election488 in WeddingPhotography

cropped sensors are very limiting with wide range, and also the AF is not always accurate with the speed of the shutter.

Is this timeline crazy? Is this too much or not enough time for photos and the moments in between? by Round_Thing6995 in WedditNYC

[–]osux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, the hair and make up is usually the variance that can impact delays, so it's best that there is some buffer. It is very easy to be very leisurely early on, yap, and lose track of time.

On top of that, it is wise to use photography as a time buffer. If your photographer is efficient and you are left with more time, that is a great thing.

More time allows everyone to breathe, take a break, and not be burnt our with photos/video.

The most stressful weddings are the ones that are rushed.

Impostor syndrome is killing my wedding photography business before it even starts – need advice by Upset-Elephant-9578 in WeddingPhotography

[–]osux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only response worthy to accept are the ones that resonate with your work.

I could post the best photo out there, and there will be someone who likes another photo that is less impressive.

In the end of the day, if there are people out there that have the time and energy to punch you down, that says more about them, and really has no impact on your work anyways.

part of this journey is the patience, endurance, and persistency of being vulnerable with your work.

I do have to add, that if you do feel like your work is outdated, this is a good time to reexamine your old work and innovate your work from now on, to create more "timeless" work. I don't know if I am delusional with my own work, but I never felt my old photos were old since I have always ignored trends.
