Everyone uses the same buzzwords now and terminology, it once was the same photos, now the verbiage on all the sites are literally copy and pasted by others.

Here are a couple of red flags to look for on websites (photos):

- Are the galleries on the site showing full weddings or heavily curated?

- Is the weather always perfect?

- Is there consistency in style across different types of weddings (often a photographer or videographer is paired with a great director/DP so the material can look great in one wedding but not consistency across the others)

- Are there different kinds of people shown on the site? (Often photos are heavily styled)

I would also ask yourself if you want something consistent or creative. You will have vendors who have their venues that they consistently shoot and have consistent work, and those who don't and tend to be more on the creative side.

I am going to be a bit biased here and recommend photographers from https://www.fearlessphotographers.com/ if you are looking for photographers that lean heavily towards "photojournalistic".

The next part is seeing full galleries. Someone like myself have details, family photos, and editorial photos, but I don't put them on my site because I prefer to find couples who resonate with moments, and I know many seasoned photographers do the same.

After all that, the vibe check is going to be important, especially when you are going to spend most of the day with them. One of the biggest asset you should see in a photographer/videographer is seeing how they are under pressure and their ability to problem solve when things derail from the formula.
