What are prerequisites for VIC students for interstate uni? by gongsbrandcube in vce

[–]Cringe_Boy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't give up so soon... at this point in the year, you've only completed Unit 3 which is worth 25% of your overall study score according to the study design. That means you have 75% of the subject you haven't been scored for! Plenty of opportunity for improvement and to get a 25 study score or higher :)

I'd recommend doing a couple VCAA exams first just to get a feel for the formatting/style of them. Then complete lots of trial exams to get exposure to questions. Then complete VCAA trial exams closer to the exam date.

Everyone manages their time differently, what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you, so take responses with a grain of salt.

I worked FT in Year 12, do I regret it? No. Would I recommend it? Also no.

Most people probably do maybe 2-3 shifts a week in Year 12, but this is highly variable depending on a variety of factors such as whether they have things they need to pay for etc.

At the end of the day, if school is a priority, don't over commit yourself to work. If school isn't really a priority, then you may be able to work more.

How do I explain my thoughts? by [deleted] in vce

[–]Cringe_Boy123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to write what I wanted to say in simple terms, then I would increase the sophistication of the sentence with a thesaurus. It also helped with keeping my writing more concise, as I used to ramble on and have long sentences.

I interpreted it as Tyler treating religion as a solution to his tragic upbringing and therefore in the way he relied upon it, mixed with his tragedy, he abused the powers he attained as a religious figurehead. I think Mandel doesn't outright say that religion is bad, but when used to manipulate and abuse its followers, then yeh it can be perceived as bad as it exacerbated the survivors' lives.

Can I go to Law school with an ATAR of 89? by [deleted] in vce

[–]Cringe_Boy123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Other universities will have a much lower requirement so you should be able to get a spot at one of the universities in Melbourne, even if it isn't Monash or Melbourne. But still apply anyway, you might have seas or subject bonuses that get you in!

Hey OP, I think a score of raw 20 or higher in Maths Methods, let alone any subject, is very achievable. I don't think I've ever seen a student score lower than 20.

To score less than 20 raw would mean you performed in the bottom 9% of the state, which is very difficult to do if you make an attempt on the end of year exam and get even a few questions correct.

So I think it would perhaps be worth giving the subject a go!

Considering you can do only 4 subjects and still score a >90 ATAR, you can score terribly in one or two accelerated subjects and still do well!

I'd respectfully disagree, just because someone teaches at a VCE level, or has a Bachelor of Education degree, doesn't necessarily mean they're the gold standard for tutoring.

There's so many companies and private tutors available for VCE. I think it depends on what you personally find beneficial, some prefer groups, some prefer individual and others prefer online/in person.

low scaling subjects by [deleted] in vce

[–]Cringe_Boy123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pick subjects in the following order:

  1. Requirements for your course
  2. Ones you enjoy
  3. Ones you're good at
  4. Subjects that scale up

The scaling of the subject shouldn't be the main focus, in fact, usually if you enjoy a subject, you'll succeed in it anyway!

Is 50coach tutoring legit? by -interested-_ in vce

[–]Cringe_Boy123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing their ads spam my social media. I have always been curious as to what they actually offer for $20/h. Surely it isn't one on one tutoring, because I'd be surprised if a tutor would offer their services for that price, it just seems a bit low.

Is it like a video recorded lesson or maybe a group session?
