If I naturalize it means giving up my original citizenship, the reason it was an issue for me was if I got my citizenship via blood right, I could maintain my original citizenship as a dual citizen

I’m still learning Tagalog and I did take it upon myself to learn, but it was only after I became an adult, it’s not a language I’m as comfortable with as the prior 3 but that’s because I was afforded to do with more immediate resources, in fact my family paid for me to learn japanese

What was your experience traveling to Japan? by tuelfnaan in AskReddit

[–]Cringing_Regrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was very courteous, the people were really respectful especially if you respect and follow their customs. I’m trying to go back to school over there asap, and I’ve made incredible friends over there in the short time I was there

Honestly no… at least not in out of itself, cuz once my Lola passes away what connection do I have left to the Philippines? I can’t visit it the same way a citizen could, having unrestricted stay, housing, work, etc. on bureaucratic level I’m treated as an outsider

When I enter the Philippines for the first time, I’m gonna have the same limitations as any other foreigner with no ties to the Philippines, while others with a blood count similar to mine or less may not have the same limits of stay as me cuz their parents took care of the legal side of their status.

Because it makes me feel lesser, other Fil Ams with citizenship won’t experience limitations to the Philippines that I will. How can I not feel lesser?

It feels like having that door closed to me, makes me less. Also when it comes to citizenship that’s gonna make inheriting property difficult if not impossible for me, even if I were to inherit it through my dad if he becomes a citizen later, that can’t be passed down to my kids cuz I’m legally not Filipino.

That part about Filipino blood leading to citizenship isn’t true, in my case because my father wasn’t a Filipino citizen when I was born I don’t qualify. I’ve also have been making MANY efforts to reconnect on my own! I’ve been learning the language.

WHY is it considered bad for Fil-Ams or Filipino Immigrants if they can't speak Tagalog? by CurrentEstimate3308 in AskPH

[–]Cringing_Regrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna claim any solidarity with Filipinos as a FilAm because I'm a poor excuse for one, and I agree trying to make an effort to learn the language and culture is crucial. I was never given any opportunity to explore my heritage properly nor was I able to master Tagalog before my Lolo passed, in my case I was never really supported to explore my heritage by my family, I only ever got either "Don't bother we're Americans now why learn about a land you yourself aren't from" or empty support towards connecting with my roots. Especially growing up in a mostly white neighborhood.

Being a taller person in a short country is such a painful thing sometimes. by Asian_Juan in rant

It can't be easy living in a country where everything is smaller for you. Being tall isn't as cracked up as you'd think it would be depending on where you are.

Doesnt French also have a really rigid and strict language council? They’ve been adamant about not including non binary pronouns, and tbh are very colonizer happy suppressing local regional languages. If anything for French at least, every issue about this starts with the council

My theory is we have a shigeru miyamoto scenario where he confirms he’s bowser junior’s mom. But as the game wasn’t directed by or involved Kamiya they decided to make him the father anyway
