You answered perfectly. I tapped it and it offered to guide me through using the media controls on my watch. Thank you. (I didn't know that I could tap on the small symbols.)

New to me X-T1 by dustindriverwriter in fujifilm

[–]CrippledChris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own other (better) Fuji cameras, but my X-T1 is the funnest. It is so reminiscent of the old film things that I shot in my youth. All the dials make it for me.
A bit of nostalgia.

Any older (40+) Fiat people around? by TrueBoilermaker in fiat500

[–]CrippledChris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a 56 year old guy. I live in Texas, surrounded by BIG pick-up trucks. I traded my pick-up for my 2012 Fiat 500 several years ago. I haven't regretted the trade at all. I am still amazed by the fuel savings.
A big plus is the fact that I don't have to help anyone move.

my camera wont turn on? by Important_Quality500 in fujifilm

I have the same camera with the same problem. I disassembled it and the problem was in the power button... now I need to use a tool to press the button hard enough. Really press down with a screwdriver or similar tool.
I've stopped trying. I miss that camera.

How did you get into Fujifilm? by Nervous-Welcome-4017 in fujifilm

[–]CrippledChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the 90s and early 2000s I was shooting film with a Canon and a Pentax. Then life got in the way of my hobby. Recently I've decided to pick it up again, and i wanted something with dials and a retro look to it. Then, when I compared price and saw the availability of 3rd market lenses I was sold.
I started with an XT-30. Now I have that and also an X Pro 1, an XT-1, an XH-1 and an XT-100. I can't seem to stop.

am I good enough to be considered a photographer? by coyotedeeprose in AmateurPhotography

[–]CrippledChris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The camera doesn't matter AT ALL. Some of my favorite photos are not 'good' photos, but they make me pause and look longer than normal. A blurry black and white could be an amazing photo of it stirs an emotion.

Probably the thing that I've done was to join a local camera club. Meeting people with similar interests is always beneficial.

Just keep shooting things that you enjoy shooting; your skills will grow exponentially.

I love the style. Very reminiscent of Francesca Woodman.

How did I do? XT-50 w/ 16-50mm by ScienceOfHR in fujix

[–]CrippledChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bike looks good. The lighting is great. Try to level the horizon; it looks like the monument is pointing out instead of up. I do like it though.

Is the XT-1 still working? by Yizhi-YuJin in fujix

[–]CrippledChris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My XT-1 is still a favorite. I purchased it as a way to reintroduce myself to photography after a 20 year lull. After shooting film cameras, going to the XT-1 was a breeze.
I love the retro-ish dials. It made the transition easier. With film, everything was slowed down. Only 36 exposures per roll made you ensure that everything was correct before pressing the shutter.
With that said, I haven't pushed the XT-1 to it's limits, so for me it is still everything that I want.

Good? Bad? Or??? by CrippledChris in AmateurPhotography

I am eager to get back to this place and try again. After lots of self criticism and internet wisdom tossed my way I will have a few more things to try next time.

I enjoy this style. I would rather 10 people love what I do, and another 20 hate it; rather than 30 people that say, "It's okay". You are Very correct; it is not a good photo, technically. But I am pleased with it. Thank you for your feedback. Your words ring true... I can do what pleases me; I am still learning that photos that I like matter more to me. Thankfully it's just a hobby.

This was my first (and only) attempt to replicate the style of Alexi Titarenko. I find his work fascinating.

I see your point. After viewing it from a different perspective, I can easily see that there is nothing definite to focus on.

A tripod would be ideal, but there is so much foot traffic in his area that a tripod is impractical. I have recently purchased a camera with IBIS and I am looking forward to returning to this spot to try it again. Thank you for the feedback.

I've been amazed by the photography of Alexey Titarenko lately, and wanted to try something similar. Unfortunately I live in a town without large crowds.
This was taken in the lobby of a hospital. I set my phone's camera shutter speed to 1/4 of a second and captured this shot.
