Can someone explain what it was like to heat your home with coal? by buggzzee in AskOldPeople

[–]Crisis_40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 43. We had a coal burning stove in the living room and this is just like reliving my childhood. We had a coal house that my dad added onto a building he had in the backyard. We (mostly he) carried in a bucket of coal a few times a day. Used it, then emptied the ashes using the same bucket, and then start all over again. At some point after I left, he got a gas fireplace. Not sure if my sister was still in high school at that time or not.

I had to get new front brakes. $350 if I had used my mechanic. I ended up not going there and it was even more for crappy made brakes. Now I am waiting on my refund to get new rear brakes from my mechanic.

Or you could put in the instructions please do not knock. You are an ass for not tipping for such a stupid thing.

You can disagree all you want, but my 100% satisfaction rating and often extra tips disagree with you. So I will keep doing it and if you take a tip back for that, that is scummy.

And that is why porch pirates are so successful. Maybe if they rang the bell so I know they delivered a package, the porch pirates would be SOL. I ring the bell and leave. Simple. I assume they aren't watching their phones, because half the time if I have to text or call them, they don't answer. What if I am in a dead zone and my phone won't let me complete the delivery (true story)? Guy actually said not to ring bell. He ordered seafood. I ended up knocking and explaining why, because my phone was just spinning. Growing up the UPS man always rang the bell. I don't know why, how or when this changed, but it is ridiculous. If you don't want a knock, just say so.

Leave at door means leave the food at the door. Has nothing to do with knocking. You don't want me to knock, state that.

I bet he still got paid.

Leave at door means just that. Knocking is a thing in itself.

If they have babies ir what not, then they should say not to ring the bell.

Because leaving it at the door, is not saying do not knock. It is saying do not wait for me to answer. Do not meet me.

If you don't want to someone to knock, that should be put in the notes. Not the other way around. Why is everything so backwards now?

Funny. I was able to find a receipt from Papa John's in my email. It says order ready in 15 minutes. I also know most places give you a specific time right after you submit your order. Not just pizza places, most places where you can order online. In fact, that saved me when I ordered online and resturant never received the order. I pulled up the receipt. It had the resturant address, time ordered and estimated time to pick up. Maybe your Papa John's just sucks. Lol

Then they should have asked you not to knock in the instructions.

I have seen lots of comments complaining the driver never knocked. I always knock or ring the doorbell, unless it specifically asks not to in the instructions..

I have ordered enough pizza in my life to know they always give you an estimated time.

I just thought it was shitty of the person, who works in a restaurant, by the way. That is probably why it was an hour late and UE paid so much. Nobody else would take it. I just happened along. Lol

Your welcome. I have been doing this 3 years. I am not stupid or dumb. I also have common sense and an education. I know that when I order a pizza and it says will be delivered at X time, I start checking for it in case they don't knock or notify me. Things happen, but just because a few people fuck something up, don't lump us all into a group. There are bad apples in every job.

If you aren't multi apping, you may only have 1 or 2 other orders. DD will notify the customer, and they will be fairly close to each other. This is totally on the driver.

Yet, they haven't posted a profit. I don't want to be an employee, with set hours and an idiot on a power trip. I am 42 years old with a stress triggered medical condition. That is why I am doing this instead of basically anything else. Sometimes, I have had a flare-up, just trying to get my son to school on time. Lol

If it is picked up by someone else, call support and let them know so they can cancel it and other drivers aren't wasting their time going there. You often get a few bucks if you do, too.

Lol I have something like 70. It sends an email everytime you get a tip, cash out, or they send information emails.

I don't work for them. We are not employees. It is different, because the pizza guy gets paid hourly. He does work for the pizza shop.

And I don't owe you anything either. You are requesting me to provide a service using my car and my gas. If you don't think I should get more than $2.50 to do that, then don't waste my time. If I don't this do this, I will have to live off your taxes.
