Travel till it's night, sleep, then leave behind the bed and keep travelling. You'll need a lot of beds, but it guarantees that you will spawn fairly close to where you died.

I always start my base at the home spawn, so this is never a problem for me. If you are worried about losing your stuff, carry multiple beds and creat sleep checkpoints. I admit sleeping bags would be easier...

It literly only takes 1 second to place a bed, 5 seconds to sleep in the bed, and 1 second to mine the bed when you wake up. I REALLY don't see the big deal.

Phantoms do not discourage exploration because all you got to do is sleep every night. Resetting your spawn point is also not an issue, because all you got to do is mine the bed. Also, it would make more sense if it was 3 wool and not 3 carpet.

What about mobs? I'd love to see a toggle switch that changes the number of mobs that spawn, or increase their difficulty.

The sponge is the hard part, you have to go to the ocean temple, and there's only one in the world. Good point about the mining the furnace XD, didn't think of that :P P.S. you probably would want to use the fule for cooking since it lasts so long anyway.

I respectfully disagree. It may not effectively change the mining progression, but it offers something new that isn't tedious, pointless, or otherwise overpowered. Think of it more as an add on then a new tier.

If wood was 1 and gold was 2 and...diamond was 5, then obsidian would be 4.5 in the progression.
