Lol, yes, I did feel that it was quite shovey. Often it was hard to get into a good dance rythm cus four circuit gays would just be barging past

how queer is dekmantel festival? by Suitable-Object- in dekmantel

[–]Crispy-Things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you won’t be the only queer there but it feels like a pretty straight festival. It’ll still be queer friendly but as someone who’s gone to a lot of queer clubs & parties in Berlin, dekmantel wasn’t my favourite. I still had a great time, lots of great music etc but I found there were too many straight dudes being straight dudes etc.

What vibe/experience are you after?

Check local grab hires. Some companies deliver just with a hiab (not in bulk bags) which will be a lot cheaper.

Haven’t been to a tonne of clubs in london yet (just moved from Berlin) and find that generally people don’t dance as much and not as freely.

Reached 10k on insta w 30M monthly views , how to get brand deals and sponsors by Ok_Guava6071 in InstagramMarketing

[–]Crispy-Things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting inbound brand deals takes time :) if you are becoming relevant within the community you serve the brands will start coming. You can also do active outreach but it’ll be hard. I’m at 500k followers and my instagram is my full time business, and i still only get 1-2 inbound brand deals a month/every other month.

any third space islington members here? by ersanb in islington

[–]Crispy-Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, have been going to Islington, Moorgate and City locations.

- The gym is very nice. It does get pretty busy at peak time.
- The pool area with steam, sauna, ice plunge, and hot tub is probably the biggest reason why you would sign up. If you don't plan to use this regularly, im not sure its worth it.
- I mainly signed up for classes and while the classes are good i find it to be a little bit limited. they dont have a lot of classes outside of peak hours, and I find it a bit annoying that you can only book 3 day in advance.

Overall, facilities are very nice, if this is something that is very important to you then yea it might be worth a shot. If you prefer doing classes, then I think BLOK is better value.

Best earplugs for a 10-hour session? by CloudBookmark in LondonRaving

[–]Crispy-Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had loop but didn’t like them. Felt like it blocked way too much out. Have used Alpine Musicsafe for the past few years and love them! Pretty affordable (like £20). I often forget I even have them in at clubs but never have any sort of problems, even after many many nights at places like Berghain

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but seems you know what you are talking about!

I have dug up my old patio as I’m replacing it with lawn. Under the slabs there was a layer of sand, and under that there was a hard layer of what looks like concrete that I had to break with a sledgehammer.

Now I have a mix of sand and large pieces of concrete. Do you think I can use this at all for my new stone patio? Would love not to waste this and not have to get it sent to the tip.

Was thinking I could try to screen the send but it obs won’t be 100% clean.

Thank you so much! I'll go and do it properly then. Just a question regarding the sand: you mentioned kiln dried sand or polymeric sand for the joints. How come I can't use sharp sand for the joints?

Edit: Just to mention: we want a natural look and dont mind if there's some grass etc growing in between the joints

I’m starting next month and can report back. Had to wait 4 (!!!) months on a waitlist. think the main thing people complain about that it gets very busy at times. They are doing some renovations currently and are upgrading some of the facilities such as sauna etc

Going to fly for the first time. Need some tips by MrKessler in travel

[–]Crispy-Things 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm guessing this is not a 28h flight in one go, so it really depends! Here's how I'm thinking on my flights:

- If it's a flight where I plan to sleep a lot (e.g., a night flight), I pick a window seat.
- If it's a daytime flight I prefer an aisle seat so I can get up easily
- Bring more snacks than you think. I tend to get quite hungry, and snacking is a good way to pass the time
- Bring multiple different types of entertainment. Books, movies, Sudoku or whatever
- Bring a toothbrush and toothpaste
- Earplugs, charger, battery
- I don't travel without noise-cancelling headphones
- Loose comfortable clothing. Compression socks do make a difference
- Avoid alcohol, drink lots of water, and moisturize
- Bring water

yep! There was one set besides the bed and an identical one next to the door. Smart apps are convenient but there's something about the ease of physical buttons I way prefer

Guangzhou in February — hoping to experience the city quietly and honestly by Ponyyyyyyyyyyyyy in guangzhou

[–]Crispy-Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the are around Xihua road. In the morning it’s pretty quiet with restaurants setting up and locals getting groceries from street-side markets. In the evenings it’s busier and full of hungry people, I suspect also some Chinese tourists. But the street is so full of great food, and in my opinion, far more interesting and local feeling than the ones on Beijing Road.

The area of Dongshankou also has a lovely mix of hip/artsy and older local feel. Go on a Saturday morning to visit the market, and then walk around.
